I think the 306 CC is a better choice for a 6spd based on results I see here.

I would hesitate to say the same with an auto...

just based on what i've seen here. I dont have any expeirence with the 306 in my own car.

Marcin thanks. Do you remember where you got that crane spring kit from and how much you paid for it?

I had that kit and liked it,
but I now I would (I just did actually) go with combination motorsport springs. They are actually cheaper i think- dont quote me on that because my springs are a BIT stiffer and my retainers have a BIT more titantium than that kit

He is running a solid roller cam with crazy lift like 680" if I remeber correctly. I don't think he would run a 9.60 Et with a cc306. LOL

I personally wouldn't get the CC306. I have a 230/236 with ported heads in my car and i think it is on the edge of being unstreetable if you ask me. It has some cam surge and a loss of low end torque meaning you have to rev it to make the power. i believe looking at Kmook's dyno he didn't even really start making power with his 230/236 until like 4-4500. I am running stock gears and am putting in 4.10's this weekend or next and that may help the car some. I just wouldn't want any more cam than this and the CC306 is bigger plus it doesn't have the XE lobes which help streetablity.

whats the main diff between the 30x series and the XE series cams. Allot of people here seem to think the 306 is a bit to big, how does the 305 and lower compare?

O yeah myself being mainly a weekend driver, and having allot of 5-0 around here, what cam would you guys recomend. I dont have head work yet but i do see it in the distant future. Im thinkin 224/300 but i love the feel and sound of a large cam. You think this cam has what it takes to give that kinda thrill or is it too small ?

how about 224/230 on a 110 lobe seperation with the "middle lift" (there are 3 lifts available)

check out my thread in advanced tech called "using LSA to adjust powerband"

around the 3rd page Rich Krause(rskrause) steped in and explained a basic "how to pick a cam"

saint69 what timing chain are you running, I see your reving pretty high, wondering if you got the extreme and if it holds the abuse like people say? On another note I felt a difference in my low end torque with the bigger cam, it just seems like the powers not there low than all of a sudden it just comes on full force, at a fairly high RPM range. Who ever mentioned the dyno graph for Kmooks car is smart, thats a good way of seeing what your getting into, power starting up at 4 grand doesn't sound appealing to me, others its fine, I Know Saint69 has said he like the top end power for accelerating from a get go instead of a dead stop. As far as smell goes, I just put fresh cats on my duals and there was a huge smell increase standing next to my car, I didn't notice any difference inside, and my cam is a blower cam so not much overlap and thus not such bad fumes as the cc306. I will say some people love the heavy exhaust smell. I use to drive with a 3400 rpm torque converter in my daily driver, it sucked at part throttle, but sure worked well, maye because I was at full throttle more often than not, other people can't bare anything higher than 2400 RPM so you might love the cc306 or hate it, I would really suggest checking into previous posts as much as possible and anywher else you can find info on the different cams cause its a lot of work and money to just jump into. If you have decided you might want to try this deal which ends this Friday, its a great deal, they can help you on what will be best. http://web.camaross.com/forums/showt...hreadid=129985 Have you any goals in mind on what you will ultimately will want--heads/cam nitrous/supercharger?
