Yet another Temp sensor Question

Well I had a prob yesterday with the upper radiator hose so I got a new one. Well on my way to getting this done I must have pulled off the Temp Sensor plug from the Water Pump. The thing is it looks like the owner before me had it rigged up because the connection on the actual sensor was broken and the plug was glued on with rubber compund. (Don't you hate idiots) Well I went to the local AZ and got a new one but upon installation I noticed the connection for the plug is Differant. The one on my car looks like this: - - but the one from AZ looks like this : l - Is it the wrong sensor or what? I have a 95 Pontiac T/A. Right now I have it just kinda stuck on there because with out it on it runs like crap and is very hard to start. It also spitts out white smoke, When its plugged in though everything is fine. Thanks Guys for your Help

Re: Yet another Temp sensor Question

If it does not match, it isn't right. Your car will run poorly without that sensor working. It is the one that feeds the temp info to the computer.

Re: Yet another Temp sensor Question

It sounds like AZ might have sold you the single wire gauge temp sensor that goes in the head, rather than the 2-wire sensor that goes in the water pump.

Re: Yet another Temp sensor Question

Ya is what it looks like is that the sensor has a one wire connector and like a ground or something.
