Yokohama's or Sumitomo's

Hey I was wondering which tires I should get for my car, the choices are.

Yokohama AVS ES100
or
Sumitomo HTRZ

I am looking for a replacement tire for my stock rims and both of these looked like good tires for the price. I am wanting the tire out of those two that has the best straightline traction that is the main factor. I know that a full slick or a DR would be better, but I already have a set of Nitto's that I am waiting to get some 15" drag rims to use, but in the mean time I need to pick a good tire for under $120 that will improve on my 2.4 60' times over the slick tires that are currently sitting under the fenders of my car.

Thanks alot.

I have the Yokohamas in the 275/40ZR17 size. Handling is fine, but straightline blows. These are going bye-bye for some drag radials in the spring.

so should I go with the Sumitomo's then I have heard good things about the traction with them. Like I said I am just looking for a good road tire that I can beat my previous 2.4 60' with until I get my Nitto DR's on.

Look into Kuhmo ecsta supra's. I have a set of 275/40/17's and am very happy with both straight line and cornering. Seem to be really good in rain too. I only have an A4 but 2.0 60 ft times are respectable. I believe they are reasonably priced also. Only complaint I've heard from others is road noise. I have not had any other tires so don't know about comparisons but these seem to hook really well even being a 40 series tire with little give in the sidewall. Check it out unless you have your mind set on the Sumitomo's.

I have the Kumhos and the straightline traction sucks for me but the cornering is very good...it also might be cause I have 245/50s too so

HTRZ, almost as good as the old Yoko AVS Intermediates.

I would suggest the HTZRII - No complaints here, good wear, attractive tread pattern, good wet and dry weather traction. Sent you an email with a pic

Yokohama translated means "little traction"

Thanks for the pic man, my HTRZ's should be here on Monday or Tuesday so I should have some better times or at least new times next weekend if the track isn't rained out again....
