ZO6 lifter broke

ZO6 lifter broke
The part from the roller down and the roller are in the engine floating around. There are also some metallic flakes in the lifter valley. When I took the intake off the spider was bent on the lifter that is broke, I could have tightened my rockers to much?
The motor is freshly rebuilt, stock crank polished, 6" Eagle SIR rod, Mahle standard bore pistons, studded 2 bolt mains,Melling select oil pump 10% in the stock pan, LE2 heads, gasket matched intake, 52mm TB, FLP headers, 1.6 CC roller rockers, all bolt ons. Hot Cam ( go ahead tell me about the hot cam and oil pump, I already have one dead horse)
The cam feels ok, I drug my figernail across the lobe and it seems fine. My question is do I put a new set of lifters in and rinse the motor out with some oil A, rinse the motor and pull the pan to get the parts out B, rinse the motor, pull the motor, take it apart and clean it C.
Thanks for any input, Art

You seem like your willing to do it the right way by taking it out and apart, just to be sure. That would be the right way. It would be a shame to tear up a fresh rebuild. And as far as the Hotcam goes, no problem here, it's a proven cam that has run some very good times. How did it run before the problem came up? Did you have the tune right on, and all the bugs worked out?
