ZZ4 crank

ZZ4 crank
ive been lookin at alternatives to build an affordable, but stout bottom end...so it kinda throws a 355/383 setup out..its a blower motor, but i want a forged bottom end. now i remember a while back, i had read on here that some people were using the ZZ4 cranks i think, and that they were like 300 dollars, and forged from the factory...
i went to gmpartdirect.com and looked and found the crank, but it says for use on gen2 zz4's only...so, is that just like company ploy or what? and is there really a 300 dollar forged 3.48" GM crank? cause these were listed as like 650.

Re: ZZ4 crank
The GM ZZ4 Crank 12556307 can be used in a LT1 motor. It's a 1053 forging vs. a 4130 or 4340 which are stronger.
Actually your stock LT1 crank takes a royal beating and it's the strongest production SBC cast crank out there. I would stick with it and put light rods and pistons above it and have at it.

Re: ZZ4 crank
eh, i dunno if i would trust it to 600+fwhp...im lookin to make 500+rwhp on stock cubes, are the Eagle cast steel cranks better then stock? i can get dragonslayers for ~650 but that kinda breaks the wallet, but i would have the piece of mind to hold some big power.

Well depends on how much power you want to make....
A Eagle 4340 crank is stronger than the LT1 block so that's really the weak link.
