Death of an SS... or... Rebirth??

Some of you know I have a 2001 Camaro SS... three weeks ago she got stolen, and recovered.

Thats done with now. Have it at a shop and so far, without ANY mechanical work (which it may or may not need) the estimate is $11,200.00 and some change... I will know soon if they want to total it or repair ir...

If they repair it, im goin big *****... but not sure I even want the car back... Wish me lucky!

Well, looks like every body panel cept the rear bumper is damaged... passenger door cracked, literally, in HALF.. both fenders gone, hood mashed up, both quarters hit something... front bumper and grille are waaaasted... From what the cop told me (they caught the ***** btw!) they got him in a high speed chase (which BTW the cops couldnt catch the car ) but once they called ANOTHER city in to get him off the highway, he got cornered so jumped curb and went thru a few fences and one of those lil 3 foot high brick walls that used to belong to someone front porch... aside from taht, the cradle is smashed up into the engine and back about 4", so prolly oil pan or lower end damage, trannys f'ed, right rear axle tube is bent, dont know bout the axle, needs 4 rims and tires... its pretty f'ed up... by the way everything from teh Cradle to the Axle... is NOT INCLUDED in taht 12k... once it reaches 14,500.... its a total.

that sucks big time.
sounds liek the car is too smashed up to be worth anything, even as parts.
you could pull the engine out of it if they total it, jsut find out what th ebuy back price of the car is from teh insurance. i am sure it is no where near teh cost of a low mileage LS1 with harness and everything.

later

That car will be totalled for sure. You dont want it back, it would never be the same car. It'll make all sorts of noises have all sorts of problems. Ditch it and get something else.

Sorry to hear that Syndrome. I didn't know that it was stolen. I liked the paint job you'd done to it too. They should total the car if its 12k to fix it now because the quotes are always lower than what it turns out to be, it'll probably end up being closer to 20k when its all said and done. Besides, its a uni-body car with t-tops. From what you've described, the frame is bent for sure. I'd say get a new one.

BTW: Don't mean to be mean but I hope the cops got it on video. They always have slow cars on those high speed pursuits on TV, it'd be nice to see a fast car for once.

That sucks bad man, I know how it is to have a car stolen. It's a shame, but it sounds like it's going to be a complete total. At least they caught the low life.

#0th Ann is rite, the car will never be the same. I had an 89 Formula that was hit in 90. Nowhere as bad as yours, but the car wasnt the same.
