anyone else driving their Z this winter

due to the fact that i dont have another car or any money to buy another one ill have to drive my Z again this winter. if you think youre some kinda incredible driver try driving an f-body in extreme conditions with horrible tires. i knew i was gonna have to drive it so i was hoping to get some tires (at least for the back) ahead of time, but now im running out of time. hopefully i can get through this winter w/o any problems. next year when i graduate and get a full time job the first thing ill buy is a beater car, cause this just aint gone cut it!

Good Luck, remember to put lots of sand in the back and a shovel to dig yourself out with. I'm contemplating moving somewhere in the future that doesn't have snow, then I could drive a sportscar year round. You really should get some decent tires.

I got a beater last winter, wich was great b/c i had Kumhos on the TA. (Kumhos + snow = me going nowhere) This year though, I just decided to get some snow tires (Bridgestone blizzacks) as two cars was/is too much hassle for me at the moment. Maybe if i was out of the house it would be a different story, but right now, one car is pleanty.

BTW I have a 1995 Eclipse for sale, worked great as a winter beater last year.

You betcha! I made it through last winter on the factory RS-A's, and this year I got a set of actual snow tires (slightly used, but still lots of tread left). So far they suck a$$ in the rain (believe it or not, even less traction than with the RS-A's!!! ) but hopefully driving through snow / slush, they will work better than the all-season tires because they're a 215/60/16 instead of the factory 245/50/16's. Last year I didn't even have any weight in the back.............no ASR either................just keep your foot out of it!

Yes I have to drive her again

But I love driving my car

I have 225/60/16 snow tires all the way around, mounted on Black Painted 93/94 Aluminum Swirls

They suck in the rain, but she tracks like a mountain goat in the snow and slush

Next year(Fall) I am going to buy a new truck or suv,I will keep the TA plated so I can take it out on the nicer winter days

the tires i have on there now are so worn they look like bfg drag radials b/c the only part that has a slight trace of tread is the outer surface. yesterday was hell going to work in the rain, and my job is only 10 mins away.

If I don't locate a winter beater soon, I'll be driving my 94 Z stroker all winter. Should be fun with a full manual VB TH400 and 4.10 rear.

Yup, don't have room for another car. But I also drove a 67 400 Firebird In the 70's and a 77 Z28 in the 80's in both Michigan and the Colorado Rockies. It's all in the technique!

Sure do. Some guy named "Mike" gave me a real good deal on 4 Yokohama Snow Tires on steel rims.
I figure if I don't drive it over the winter, I'll store it outside with the snows on it to protect my good rims. I'd put it in my garage, but there's already a half-disassembled 94 Z28 sitting in there.

I drove my car last winter once during snow. Managed to get 5 min to school and back. Dont know how but I did. Car wouldnt go back up my driveway, it just drifted onto my neighbor's lawn a little. I managed to get it 3 houses down and across the street until I shoveled. I drive my mom's old 95 4x4 Blazer since she got a 2002 Trailblazer last summer. I waited until January to put my Z28 away last year and it snowed that one time, but this year its been sleeping for about 3 weeks and will be until spring awaiting the C5 brake conversion. Even better, instead of having the Z be my daily driver from March-October again, it will split driving duties with my Blazer.

Come springtime, I'll have 4 BFG KDWS 245/50/16s on salad shooters for sale, I'd say 85% plus tread remains on all 4. i'd sell them now but dont have rubber for my Z06s yet.

Currently I plan on driving the Z in the winter.

Hmm, maybe I need to get on the ball as far as getting snow tires or something.

I will be driving it unless someone has a 95-97 Blazer for sale??????? or any other sweet 4x4?????

My drive is basically out 5 miles on a country road with gigantic ditches on the sides. I make this round trip twice daily, but might reduce to once daily if it's realy bad out.
