For anyone who tunes there own car HELP

Computer wont connect to the PCM

Ive tried datamaster and the freescan software, both do the same. I tried the aldl test program and it says it passes the fast test, but fails the longer test when the baud goes to 57600. I have a moates cable and have contacted the tech support and they want me to hook some other kind of scan tool to it, like a snap on, not sure if that works on a 93. Im able to pull codes with the paper clip method. I think the cable is no good, but any input would be appreciated.

Thanks,
Nick

are you using the serial port on the laptop? Im having the same problem, after reading all kinds of tech support documents i just broke down and bought a PCMIA serial adapter for the laptop which is supposed to fix the problem. (apparently the serial port on some laptops just wont communicate with the pcm) cost me about $45 on newegg, im going to be trying it out today or tomorrow.

I'm no pro when it comes to tuning, however if i remember correctly a 93 PCM is OBD1 and you need to burn a chip for it. Maybe thats why it won't communicate?

your right, so the moates cable won't work, wanna sell it?? lol, my buddy is setup to burn chips and read those thing though....

elaborate, your computer is different than any other year lt1, the only way to do what you want is buy a romulator and get tunerpro RT.

no, like we stated, a 93 uses a burned chip, unlike every other year fbod where you can reprogram it.
