Berger service dept
They used to be good. I never had a problem there until today. I took my car in to have the headlamp reflective bezel replaced under my extended warranty as it is cracked. The technician told me he did not think it would be covered because it is a "trim piece". I told him it is functional and should not be considered trim as it focuses the light from the headlamp bulb. It has a function and I believe it to be safety related. He said I would have to call GMPP to get it covered. I did, they covered it and everything was fine. Then he called them and convinced them it was a trim piece so they decided not to cover it. I got them both on the phone through General motors customer service and they decided it was not a trim piece because it had a function. So they called it a body panel and still will not cover it. Where does a technician get off convincing the warranty group something is not covered when they already decided it was? I am a bit irrate about this and everyone is going to know.

Re: Berger service dept
yeah that sucks man. sorry to hear that. that tech. was just on a power trip. Im a tech at a pont. dealership, and cant imagine why he would want to do that. all that does is take work away from him and make the customer mad. I could see that poss. the glass isnt covered in your warranty, and that he'd suggest you call them to arque the case, cause all we can do is what they let us do. but to then call himself and talk them out of covering it just sucks. I dont know where your at, but if your anywhere near novi/farmington hills, you should come see me at bob sellers pont./gmc. we can do any GM car under GMPP extended warranty coverage and I always do whatever I can to take care of my customers. whether its at my work or my high perf. side jobs.
anyways unless there's more to the story then your tellin, that guys an ***.
one more thing, is warranty wont cover anything that is bad related to damage ie.stone chips, scratches, accidents, and so on. are you sure he isnt claiming it to be damaged? what is the reflective bezel? the headlamp itself?

Re: Berger service dept
The part cracked is the part behind the headlamp that reflects the light forward. It is plated so I assume that is why he initially wanted to call it a trim piece. I always figured a trim piece is a piece when removed would not affect the function of the vehicle and is for appearance only. The clear lens is undamaged, although there is a few scratches in it. I sure don't see how they can call it a body panel. They never could explain that one.

Re: Berger service dept
I would definetely go straight to the service mgr. and express my concerns, and if he does not help, go to the dealership mgr, and inform him you will be going elsewhere for your next chevy purchase, or that you'll trade in his berger camaro for a new mustang, and see if he bites on your bluff.

Re: Berger service dept
Was it an actual technician that gave you grief or the service writer? I had some stupid kid in there(I thought he was a service writer) tell me I had to call to get a service appointment made when I was standing right there. He pissed me off. I ended up calling a few days later and got in the next day. That was the only issue I had. I had warped rotors and they milled them and they're fine. They couldn't replicate the sticking hatch release but did lube it up. Too bad it failed when I opened it when I got home. Only other service I had for the Camaro was a replacement headliner because mine had a slit in it from new. They replaced it no problem. Had a failed cat on my 98 S10 and they fixed that no problem either. I thought they gave guys with Berger cars even more special attention. Have you brought this up to Matt Berger? I'm sure he'd like to know what happened.
