Camaro Superfest
it's that time of year again.

those of you who know about it already. how many of you like the fact it's during the holiday weekend? how many of you would attend with your cars or at least come to see the events if it weren't during the holiday weekend, yet another weekend beside a holiday?
there are some conflicting interests that believe more would attend camaro superfest in ann arbor, MI if it weren't on or around the 4th of july weekend. i'm posting polls at every f-body forum to get the opinions of those of you who attend or would like to attend. please voice your opinions as the results will be going straight to those who make the decisions.
thank you.

Re: Camaro Superfest
The holiday date chosen will always be an issue for debate and should not be looked as the excuse for the number of attendees.
For me I like the Holiday weekend, easy to plan, fun to do.
But what happened to the Autocross??

I havent shown my car in the show yet, hopefully this year that'll change. but I like the date and its easy to remember that its the first weekend of july. isnt it? I look forward to doin the show this year, and my dad can help me for a change instead of me always helping prep his car for the ta nats.

Re: Camaro Superfest
I went once several years ago but haven't been able to attend since because of the holiday issue. I can't guarantee that I'd show up if the date were changed, but I can guarantee I won't show up as is.

Re: Camaro Superfest
The problem I have with it being on the holiday weekend is that it can interfer with some peoples family events. There are also alot of local shows that weekend also that can pull cars away.( atleast in this area)
The cost is also kinda high 25-35 dollars, Theres really not that much to do for that kinda entry fee, well only 400- 600 car are pulled in. I attend good guy events and they charge the same and have TONS more to do. bigger vendors. ect but they pull 4000-6000 cars.
I was at the show 2 years ago and thought the location was good for space, but it was kinda hidden from the general public, who could come and see the cars and draw larger crowds and help the vendors sell products. What are the chances to make it more visiable to the general public?
Just some suggests, I do really like the show, just pointing some thing that I feel could make it better.

Re: Camaro Superfest
I really want to attend this year but I'll probably be up north for the 4th of July. I think thats when the St Ignace cruise is....or sometime around that part of the summer. I think the date is fine though. Hopefully I can make it this year.

Re: Camaro Superfest
Ive never been to one but isnt it pretty big event, as in people from all over the country? if so the date was probalby chosen because of the holiday. as it makes it easier for out of towners to get the time to come all the way out here. at least for those that get a long weekend that weekend

Re: Camaro Superfest
well i'm working with them to figure this out which is why it's important to voice your opinion. for many the date is a very large issue. local shows are not a concern however larger shows like the good guys, carlisle, chevy nationals are and this is why superfest is on the date it is. however with that said there certainly should be an opinion by many who either attend or have planned on attending but couldn't in the past. i know myself and many others it's a great time of year since the time off from work is there however family and other issues come into play with that date which makes it difficult. the general concensus is those who are truly interested end up going reguardless of the date and those who aren't sure usually never make it so the date will probably stay but it still would be nice to know opinion as if more people felt strongly about it being on any other given day then it would happen.

Re: Camaro Superfest
I have already registered online, if that answeres your question. I think it is fine being the holiday weekend. I know that the event is supposed to be family oriented, so I make it a family show as much as I can.
Being a LONG time Superfest attendee, I am just curious...is this something that Barry is seriously considering changing? If you at liberty to answer and prefer to do it privately, e-mail is fine.

jason i only have 6 years myself which doesn't compare to you but i know where your coming from. yes it's something that is being considered. barry may actually be leaving his post after this year though so there are more things that may change.
i sent you an email.
the addition to a fully reserved milan will be nice, there are unexplained issues with the auto-x and it was originally going to be moved to milan but was then voted out. mis was outbid once again by RPDE sponsors and executives. while it's a fun event they even tried to reserve the track for thursday making superfest a 4 day event however RPDE vs- giving superfest a freebie day just wasn't going to happen. the clubs tried reserving the track all summer long and just couldn't compete with the paying prices of other clubs. so in short they are trying hard to keep the events everyone likes and they are open to new ideas.
if anyone has suggestions of a good friday activity as well it would be great to hear i'm sure.
another good reason for the weekend that is reserved allows for greater discounts through the hotels which is something to consider. even though gas prices go up.
