Charlie, moving again...Read me

Finishing up CM A school here in beautiful Pt.Huheneme, CA. My new orders have me shacked up in Jacksonville, Florida! Not too bad eh? Well they say the training I have recieved here is equal to that of an automotive technical school, pretty sweet. Anyways, does anyone know the emissions regulations for the state of Florida? I should probably post in that forum, but they are not as cool. Anyways, shout back.

Chris, how are ya? I enlisted in the Navy, the Seabees to be specific. My rating is CM (construction mechanic). Basically we comprise a miniscule fraction of the Navy, there are something like 7,000 seabees in the multi-million personel "fleet" Navy, and less that 1 thousand CM's (I believe the number to be around 800). The training is top-notch out here in Port Huheneme, CA. Eight hours a day, same class, same instructor. As you can probably imagine, it gets to weigh a little on the nerves. However, the training that they have provided me with thus far sets me up nicely for my ASE's. Diesel tec, I.C.E... suspension and drivelines, CPU, brakes... 180 days worth. Good stuff. I am amazed how much being affiliated with this website has assisted me with my schooling, I understand the "why" factors much better now, and can not wait to apply a few theories to the old camaro when I get her down to Jacksonville. Yes there is an eight week bootcamp for the Navy, it is in Great Lakes, IL. It is VERY mentally tolling, they really teach you how to make due with what you have, and greatly stress attention to detail. We train like Marines here in Pt. Huheneme, and we will continue to do so for the duration of my career, as the Seabees work VERY closely with the Marines. The last time you saw me I was what...300 lbs? I am 230 now, feel great, best shape of my life. Lbs off me=weight reduction for the camaro right? Speaking of Camaro's, how is yours? And your Caprice? Any winter project to speak of? Anyways, I am going to jet for now, take it easy Chris, nice hearing from you.

wow, thats pretty cool stuff. as for my cars, the caprice is exactly the same as it was. xept with a few more scratches and a trailer hitch. it actually pulls my 20foot flat bed trailer really nice. I decided not to mod it at all. there is a broken exh. mann. bolt and its now barely leaking so I may do headers/exh. but that'll be it.

as for the 95Z, its up at the car show right now and lookin sharp if I do say so myself. Im really pleased with the way its turned out so far. you know I built a 383 forged stroker for it, just got a new rear axle from scott koreski for the car (I blew out my gears in fall immediatly after the eng. was done being broken in) I cant wait for spring to get to the track. it SHOULD run low 12's maybe even high 11's, but we shall see. theres alot guys on the LT1 forum with nearly identical setups runnin high 11's so Im hopefull. I do need to get a new stall conv. cause the cheap one I have isnt high enough stall and is holding me back in the 60ft. and the eng.'s built to handle 200HP n20 shot, but I need to save up some more money to complete safety equipment and get that new stall to handle all that power. I'll need a couple more grand before I can really put the nitrous kit on it. you should check out mypics in my sig.. I'll update it after the weekend w/some pics from the car show.

and for the winter project, got a big one goin down. infact, I stored my Iroc at one buddy's house for the year, and my 95 is staying at a diff. buddy's house for hte winter while Im workin on the project. Im doin a v6-carbed 350 conversion on a 93 firebird. it's gonna be sweet. its a pretty built 350, th350 trans, FULL bmr suspension, full gauges, and we gotta make a harness for the eng.. so Im pretty busy as you might imagine. Im gonna have to start workin alot more on it to get it finished by spring like we'd hoped. there is pic's of that in the link in my sig too.
