Cost to put a 12 Bolt in?

I am looking at ordering a 12 bolt and getting rid of my 10. I was wondering how much it would cost to swap them?

On top of that.... What 12 bolt should I be looking at? I know very little about drivetrain. How much power can they handle and are they covered by any kind of warranty for a period of time?

12 bolt moser's are popular.

Check out bmrfabrication.com

They're around $2000 complete. The swap is easy, you should do it yourself. Jack the car up, disconnect the driveshaft, disconnect the shocks at the rear end, pull the LCA's and torque arm and you're set. Not all that much work I don't think.

and about reliability and lasting... I don't think anyone's blown a 12 bolt up yet.

Bill, Ill have Al fox post about his research into buying a 12 bolt.

I believe he got a strange, because it is THE MOST direct bolt in. Uses stock axle tube sizes so the sway bar fits right, has ALL the little clips for brakelines, etc etc...

The new Dana is bad *** and bolts right in... should hold any power you throw at it.

On top of what was already said.....

The Moser 12 with 33 splines is a good way to go. It would only really take a few hours to install. Conisder doing it yourself and saving a few hundred bucks in labor. If not, give DTS a call.

bill, if you dont get this until summer, I will do it for you for $75. real easy with a hoist. but you should contact scott at driveline solutions for this too. he can tell you the price diff.s, and explain anything that you should know about. such as certain brands that require custom sway bars or brackets and so on.

Re: Cost to put a 12 Bolt in?

Bill, I put the DTS Moser type 12 into Rod's car and I put a Strange 12 in mine.
I would highly recommend the Strange 12. As Rod said the Strange is a 100% bolt in using all of the factory type fittings, bolts, clips, and holes. And I'm doing 1.48-1.52 60s in a 3500 lb. car with no problems.

Thanks Al, since I know nothing about rear ends can you recommend a setup for me? I just ordered my 3800 Fuddle Converter last week. I am hoping with that and and a 12 bolt with 3:73s I can get my 60's from 1.75 to low 1.6s with my current setup.

Is DTS, Drivetrain Soulutions on the westside? So you have anyone I should talk to there? Do they make a decent sticky tire that comes in a 17". I have the Nitto Drags right now. I am just not sure they will hold for alow 1.6 60'?

How much can I get one of the starnge rears like you put into Rodds? Do they come with a warranty and how much power are they good for?

Thanks for your help. I hope to get this in the next month.

Bill

Bill, Scott Koreski is the owner of Drivetrain Solutions. You can search Scott on the board and probably get his # and contact info(I think he's a sponsor too). Scott built and put my 9" rear in mine and will set you up with what you need! Scott is in Eastpointe and is awesome to deal with.

Mickey Thompson has a ET Street radial in 17" size and I've been hearing nothing but good things about their new ET radials. they are supposed to hook as good as their ET Street slick. I'll be running a pair of their 325/50/15 radials soon.

Thanks for the information. So, did he do it on the side or at the shop?

If anyone has contact information please let me know. I hate to spend the extra $200 shipping a rear if I can go local and buy and have it installed.

How long does an install take.... If I drop the car off in the morning, can I pick it up same day? It is a long haul to drive out and drop a car off. So, if possible, early appt and hang out.

Thanks,

Bill

He did my install on the side, but that was a couple of years ago. Took a few hours, not sure how busy he is these days though.

bill, I'll get you his # shortly. I have it in my phone. actually, i just talked to him today about another buddies car. Im sure he's gonna have time to squeeze you in w/in a couple weeks from the sounds of when I talked to him today. possibly he can do it right after I get done putting the stall in your car if you order a rear soon. Im not sure how long they take to get in, but he did mention being pretty busy selling them lately.
