Gas Prices, Wonder How It Will Affect Places Like Milan?

I wonder if the gas prices being so high will thin the crowds out at places like Milan? Wednesday Test and Tune is usually fairly packed the last few times I have went. I have not gone in a while since the gas prices have gone up. Has it affected the crowds at the tracks?

Thanks,

Bill

I just ordered a new Lexus 400H Hybrid SUV. It gets 30mpg + in the City and 30mpg on the highway, not to bad. To bad it will take about 4 months to get.

Oh well, Keep your foot light on the gas pedal.

If nothing else the Gov. should cut part of the taxes out to give us some relief....... That should get us through the short term. Then hopefully when things get back to normal (if ever) down south the prices will drop some.

Just think how lucky we are compared to the people hit by the storm.

Re: Gas Prices, Wonder How It Will Affect Places Like Milan?

We've tried changing our driving habits and it's helped a lot in the last couple of weeks:

When driving the Jeep Grand Cherokee with V8, We always keep the revs below 2000 rpm when accelerating. We coast a lot further on slowdown and use the brakes with less force. It's almost like using your icy-road driving habits in the middle of summer. By doing so, our city driving mileage has now exceeded 21 MPG.

When driving the Minivan, it's similar technique but the mileage has risen to about 26 mpg.

I drove the Trans Am to Brighton yesterday and even with the big 385, it only took four gallons to drive there and back. That's about 21 MPG, by keeping it in sixth at 45 mph on-up, and never exceeding 72 miles per hour. I've watched the wide-band and at 1600 rpm in cruise, it sits right about 15.0:1 on the AFR meter. At 1000 RPM it's running about 14.1:1.

We've cut out all extra trips, bundle our errands, and we're staying home fot the weekend and will probably just camp out in the back yard with a campfire. We can use our bicycles to get to Lake Lansing. That ought to save us a few $$.

Have you seen the $6.07 prices in some places? I feel like I got a steal filling up for $2.99 monday. Kinda makes me not want to run at the track now.

Can't get much better than 45 mpg, 162 mph, and all that for under 10k. (Note the sig.)
