Post Guys running slicks, got a few questions.

I am going to try the 28x10.5x15 ET drags for the first time tomorrow night but have some questions.

My tires are on a 15x8 rim and are screwed to the rim, so I believe that they have tubes in them but am not sure since I bought them used. I went to put air in them today and got them up to 10psi but they are rock hard.

How do I know if I have tubes for sure?

The tires shouldn't look flat when they are on the car should they?

Also do you have any pointers on launching?

Thanks.

Hmmm 10 psi and rock hard? Are you sure that the gauge is ok? 10 psi will be fairly soft, with bit of a bulge.

You can see if you have tubes by the type of valve stem, a regular valve stem is tubeless and a threaded valve stem is on tubes.

Launching will depend on transmission, clutch, power level, rearend etc etc.

With an M6 you need to get 1 to 1.5 revolutions off the line to save your clutch, so you'll need a spotter.

Enjoy,
Roman

Roman,

The gauge is brand new, so I believe it is okay.

When you say threaded, do you mean the valve stem is threaded into the rim?

Thanks.

Chad, what I mean is that the entire length of the valve stem is threaded so that you can thread a nut from the outside to keep the valve stem from disappearing into the rim.

Roman,

Yes the entire outside of the valve stem is threaded. With the 10psi in them they felt hard but once I put them on the car and let the car down they did squat pretty good. I was unable to run them last night because I didn't grind enough off the brake caliper and the wheels were rubbing after I torqued the lugnuts.

James,

Most of my Beebe relatives are from the Flint area. Growing up in Chesaning there were only 2 Beebe families (mine&grandparents) but once I moved down to Portage there are tons of them.

Harold,
I plan on using the tires at M7 and then I will probably sell the slicks and skinnies to get a different style of rims. These Welds with that thick center hub are a pain. Even with the longer ARP wheel studs in the front when I put the spacers on the studs are just flush with the outside of the wheel.

I graduated from New Lothrop in 1990 but grew up 2 1/2 miles north of Layton Corners.
