help me pick some hockey skates

I only have $200 to spend, which should be plenty since Im a beginer still. just started skateing 12 weeks ago. but Ive been skating alot cause Im on a league every sund. and practice at least once a week at suburban during "sticks and pucks". which is a open skate but its for practicing hockey, not just skating.
anyways, im a forward so speed is important. ofcourse comfort is the major concern. Im just starting to look into the diff.s and this skate looks the best to me so far.

anyone else got any better/other ideas?

also where is a good place to go to shop? Ive heard of parahni's outlet store in taylor on eureka (sp?) and plan on going there to look and try some on. but any other ideas or thoughts would be appreciated

TIA

Defimitely check out Peranis. They have a few locations around the area. http://www.peranis.com

It's kinda tough to reccommend a skate, since they all fit a little different. Buy what feels good on your foot. Personally, I like a tighter fit. I've always worn Bauers, but I have a pair of Tours that are pretty nice too.

Ive been inthe parani's in livonia. gotten skates sharpened there and bought some little stuff. it seems like everything else there is expensive, but I didnt look at skates at that time. I'll check out there online deals.

Jason, I am planning on coming out sometime soon. but you guys play on the other side of the planet from me. but I guess I could maybe follow Denny out sometime. do you guys ever play on Frid. nights? cause that would be easier to arrange for me if you guys do. def. some time soon though.

thanks for the ideas though. I'll prolly go out looking tomorrow after the MICH. game. GO BLUE!!!!!

gotta try them on

I have always worn CCM black tacks, but Bauer makes a GREAT product. The key is to make sure your foot is snug, (but who am I to say) I wear my skates 2 sizes to small. It keeps you in touch with your skate position relative to the ice, making it easier to judge stride. Keeping your foot close to the ice, and striding further save energy and allows for faster acceleration. I learned that from Paul Coffey, Also, Jimmy Carson, former Redwing and coach of mine wore his small. The only way to find a good skate is to try them on. You can get a good pair for $200.00 easy, just make sure you look them over, get some opinions.

ok, here's what I ended up buying.

http://www.peranis.net/itemdetail2.a...S4030-SRFLYWTM

got them for $139. I was going to get the CCM 652's cause they felt great on my feet also and has some good features, but for the price and considering the ones I ended up w/have even better feateres. these skates have carbon fiber sides and outsoles for strength and lightness. the "Indy foam ankle chambers" are awesome. they are so comfy on my feet. I would recommend these skates to anyone at this point. we'll just see how well they hold up. Im really happy w/my new skates and glad I took the time to really check out what was available. I learned alot and tried a TON of skates on.

by the way, I tried on the bauers 2 diff. times but didnt like the fit at all. even though alot of people recommended them, I know the most important thing is comfort and fit. which for me the bauers just didnt have. perhaps w/the baking they would have been better, but I just didnt want to take that risk. esp. when the ccm's and the missions fit great before the baking. (yes, the mission has thermal fit).

well, Im not that good at all. I play in a begginer league in canton for about 14 weeks now. I play/skate aboot (haha)2-3 times a week though so Im making pretty good progress. as for where people play from the boards here they play in st. clair shores. which is pretty far for me so I havent made it out there yet. but plan on doing that soon. you are invited to play w/them even if youve never played before. so dont worry abut it.

if anyone wants to play around here sometime (dearborn heights, livonia, novi, canton, redford areas) Id be game for that definitely. there's drop in everywhere around here. Fri. and Sat nights would be best.
