awhile ago my friend chris really started getting into his car and it made me want a car, we went junkyarding about a month later and i saw this grand prix at the junk yard.
I seen it the week before driving down the road and wanted it when i saw it, now there she is sitting right in front of me in the bone yard. She deserved better.

i asked the guy behind the counter about it and how much he wanted, he said $300 + title and tax, so around $350 out the door

I've been back there twice now to check on her. looking closer every time i was there. today me and crystal went out there to have a really close look and take some pics.

frame is solid body needs a little bit of work, quite rough in some spaces. the rear window is a peice of plexiglass the interior is an ugly *** brown color and the floor boards need to be patched wich shouldn't take too much work having the right equipment.

so last night i sold my paintball gun for $250, reasonable price. Today i went to the junkyard again and put $100 down on her, she now waits for me to take her home on tuesday.

I guess this is an okay first post.

Sounds like you are already on for a great start, especially if your girlfriend is there to be enthusiastic about it with you.

I'm wondiering though, what year is this Grand Prix?

 

same question I was goin to ask. new projects are always fun. especially if your other half is into to it too. wish mine was.

its a '79 grand prix.

actually this girl isn't my girlfriend, she's just one of my friends that likes (you know what) alot and loves to turn wrench.
she drives a '74 dodge D100 that she rurresrected from the grave.

were going tuesday to get the grand prix, i just have to get another $154

 

Cool! RWD is the way to go. I always gave the nod to the '79 GP over the Monte Carlo and the Buick Regal in terms of styling for that year.

You know, you could always slip a little bit of turbo performance into that body for a surprise Grand Nationalesque flavor... Kind of like the car Pontiac never built, though they tried four years later with the FWD platform in '91.

 

i was thinking about it today and i know the motor in the GP is crappy, its a 301 (pretty sure)

i know where there is a nice 350 in a truck but it doesn't run (guy couldn't get the timing right its 180* off)
and i'm going to see if he'll sell me the motor out of it for cheap.

 

Now now, dont go ripping him off

Offer to swap motors for him for freeL A running 301 for a dead 350.

the car came home today, on its own.
its got a 305 in it. feels kinda gutless but its been sitting for awhile, it only stalled 3 times but i think its because its running really rich, the raditor bottom line is bad, it leaks a bit.
burns a little oil when i get on it hard but not out of the exhaust, i think its got a bad valve cover gasket. needs an oil change, the brakes squeek really bad.

but its mine. MY name is on the title not my parents.
