If you think you see this truck, call the police!

I should have posted this earlier but I was too upset to think of it.

Friday afternoon a red 1997 Dodge Ram regular cab pickup was stolen from the car lot where I work. It has black nerf bars on the sides (the kind that you step on to get into the truck) and used to have a ram head sticker on the back window. Some adhesive residue is still there. The interior is grey cloth. I'll try to get the last 6 of the VIN later today.

The driver was a white male who will be 18 in January. He is about 6 feet tall, has spiked reddish-brown hair with blonde ends, and some body piercings. His name is Scott Michael Kenyon.

This kid was already on probation and if they catch him I hope they throw the book at him. But mostly I hope that we get the truck back without huge amounts of damage to it.

If you think you see this truck, call the police, and then let me know.

I'm in your area, I'll keep an eye out for ya. Theres a ton of those running around here, is there anything else that would stick it out from the rest? Hitch, mudflaps, plate?

Hopefully it has no plate on it. When we let him go "to take it to the mechanic" I gave him dealer plate number 160D36 and told him to stick it in the back window.

Other than that, I don't think it had mudflaps but I think it had a hitch. I wish I had taken a picture of it...

I doubt he's in Kalamazoo with it anymore, he'd be pretty dumb if he was. I guess I can hope though, can't I?

BTW it's nice to see another person on here from the 'Zoo!

Rebecca,
I hate to say it and I am not trying to be negative, but if this dirt bag piece of $hit had enough chingies to steal the truck from you guys he probably wheeled into the first wal mart or meijer and skanked a plate off of another vehicle to ditch the dealer plate. At least thats what I would do if I was a low life P.O.S. like that.

I bet he used someone elses ID too when he took it. It would be very stupid to leave your own ID behind...

And people at car dealerships should be more careful of who they let "drive off" in their cars. I rememebr when I was about 18 I used to go to about 3 or 4 dealers a week and testdrive 5.0 Mustangs, I'd say "my dads buying me a car for graduation" and they'd let me come back with no rubber on the tires

Anyhow I think the salesperson should ALWAYS go for the ride.

Exclamation

Well I'll be on the lookout for any "odd Dodges" (arent they all!). Theres something going on around here, we had quite a few cars stolen from my neighborhood over the summer, they have to be going somewhere. Heck, 2 houses down from me they got a car, but it showed up on the northside a few days later all trashed. Hope your insurance is paid up, I wouldnt put much hope in getting it back in one piece.

Think I've seen you (or at least your car) running around before. Not many purple Z's. I dont really hit this board much (always at nastyz28.com) so I dont know anyone from here. Met one guy (Chad B.-polo green z) at Martin before, but thats it. Good luck on the truck!

Yes, I'm sure that's what he did. He'd be a pretty big moron if he was still driving with the stolen dealer plate, or with no plate at all. That's a good way to get noticed and arrested.

Dammit, I wish he was a moron!!

No, it was his ID. The picture on the ID looked like the guy who handed it to me.

Gee, Mike, thanks for reiterating the fact that I'm a ginormous flaming idiot. I wasn't sure about it before you pointed that out.

And for the record, it's not always possible to go along. For one thing, I'm a woman, is it safe for me to ride along alone with a guy? Not really... And besides, if I left to go along on a test drive, there would be no one here at the lot. It's just me and my boss here. Small dealership.

The rule is that I'm supposed to call my boss and ask before anyone goes out on a test drive. I did that. What I didn't notice was that a.) he walked in, he didn't drive here, and b.) what he gave me was a state ID not a driver's license.

I decided that my new rule is that no one takes anything for a test drive period. If Ziggy is here to talk to the person, then fine, it's out of my hands. But if I'm the only one here, no one goes. Period. I'm not making this mistake twice.

I think there's one other purple camaro around here, 2x4. I'm not sure if it's a Z though. How about you, what do you drive? I'll wave at you next time I see you!

When I go to look for cars I hate it when the sales person comes along. They sit there yapping when what you really want to do is get a feel for the car and listen to what it's doing.

As for those that abuse the right to test drive by burning off tires and the like... you ruin it for the rest of us. Not cool.

I hope they track the truck down soon, but I'd be quite leary about a return now that a few days have passed. Perhaps they will catch the guy if he tries to re-sell it. Kind of strange though... even with a Michigan ID you'd think they could track the b@st@rd down.

yeah, if the salesman insists on coming along I am less likely to buy the car. Often times I will take Sally and the kids along depending on the size of vehicle...essentially leaving no room for the salesman to ride along.

See, I dont mind if the salesman comes along. I lay it out right from the start. I might buy it, so as long as I have the keys, I own it. I make sure they buckle up too. I have had more then a few salesmen grab dash, and give the general look of having a heart attack. But hey, drive it like you stole it till you own it.

Becca you brought this all to light and frankly made yourself look bad. We are trying to help out as much as possible. Maybe my advice of going along on the ride didn't set well with you, but if you're scared to go then why are you working at a dealer? Isn't that part of your responsibility as an employee?
