Its Official....the Red Rag is a Dead Stick
For the third time in two years, that damn 4L60E has gone south. I dropped the pan tonight and it was full of crap and metal shavings. Fluid looked like mud. I PRAY THE MAN WHO PUT THESE TRANNYS IN OUR CARS HAS HIS NUTS FALL OFF IN THE TOLIET!!!
Now I get to pull the tranny, and the engine. Was planning on the engine, just not this soon. Tranny is a bonus gift Either gonna go with the 350 I have laying here and build it strong, or my tranny guy wants to try some of the build ups we have seen posted on here. So it looks like I'm off to find the old posts. Also, Bowling Green might not happen for me now either, unless I can convince my brother to let me ride shotgun, and thats if I can convince him to go. To those of you who are planning on my having a hotel room for you in Bowling Green, worry not. You are still covered even if I dont go. But man that sucks, even paid my registration for the events and everything. Oh well, Look for me in the Blue 85 POS ford van. Thats me hiding behind the steering wheel

Thats too bad,I have roasted a Torque Converter and a couple of seals(replaced under warranty) and I think this one is on the way out,but I have a 2800 Yank on order.
I think the 4L60E is a lot stronger than the 700R4.
I fried 2 of them totally in my 88 GTA.LOL

Sorry to hear that Dreamer. I don't think the 200R4 will bolt up.
If you need a good trans guy call Richard Bewick. 248 828/7048. All he does is build race transmissions. He is in Troy and is a great guy to deal with.

All motor No NOS or Supercharger.
96 WS6 FORMULA Best et 13.5 at 105 mph

Awwww man Quentin, that sucks. If you need any help doing any work on your car man, you are more than welcome to call upon me. I need some experience working on LT1 cars, plus I figure I owe you anyway.
Keep your head up man, at least you won't have to worry about the tranny being the weak link with a Pro rebuild after installing your new motor.

Thanks for the offers guys. Never know, might take you up on them at some point this winter. I am putting the pan back on tonight and filling it up with fluid. Gonna drive it to my brothers for the winter. His garage is bigger and easier to do a motor/tranny buildup. Like I said, the up side is when it comes out in the spring it will have a new motor and tranny. That should be sweet. This kinda explains how I got beat at martin the other night. I had the guy the whole way till the end. And third gear is what went first. Oh well, now its time to concentrate on the engine. I finally get to build my monster.

Yeah Quentin. If you need any help, let me know. I'll be more than happy to come over and watch you guys work wile making comments like "Yeah, good job!", etc. . . . Since I know nothing about working on an engine or transmission.

Actually I'm thinkin a 355 fully forged, with a big *** spray on the top, and a agonstino stage 2 on top. backed up with a 350 long tail I have laying around that my buddy is going to rebuild STRONG. What do ya think

Sound good to me brad. I talked to my buddy at work today. Regardless of what everybody in the LT1 tech area say, I am going with the 355 not the 383. We have picked out the slugs, and rods, and I have the forged crank already. Make her strong down below and let Augustino take care of the top. just cant figure out if I want to try the 4l60e one more time, or build the 350 longtail I have. decisions decisions
