Background:
Replaced flywheel,clutch, pp , with Mcleod street twin set up.

Problem 1.
Car will not go into gear
Solution:
Install Mcleod adj. master cylinder.
New problem:
Have pedal adjusted about 1" higher than brake pedal.
Car will go into gear but very notchy.

Biggest problem:
I am getting severe vibration revving engine in neutral or in gear.

I will be rechecking( rebleeding ) the MC today and inspecting the
release fork for damage. This would explain " hard to get into gear" but not the vibration.

Anyone had a issue like this? What was the problem?

I will be posting more details as the day progresses.

Any help would be appreciated.

The vibration you have sounds like either your PP or the Flywheel is out of balance to the engine.

If you take it all apart again, bring your old flywheel and the new stuff to a clutch shop and have them spun and checked.

Are you sure that the engine is running perfectly and you don't have a miss somewhere instead?

I had similar problems when I installed my street twin.

What I had to do was after a very lot of research, phone calls and reading. I had to hole saw about a 3" hole in the bottom of my bell housing. Then when I could see the clutch, I had somone push in the clutch. In the meantime I got a feeler guage and measured the gap between all of the surfaces. I found a difference and when I found what it was I bought some shim washers and started re-shiming the intermediate plate and the flexplate to give all of the surfaces the same air gap. Afetr this the clutch worked perfect forever.

did you get this vibration when you first started car and let it idle? prior to the mcleod adj. slave install? do you know what i am drinving at....??? was there a change to it from before and after? aside from the fact that it wouldn't go into gear?

95z also brought up a good point about the balancing. ask tony about that, maybe he can provide some feedback. i don't kwo what else to say, give me a call tomorrow.

Vibration was present before m/c install, I had hoped it was a sympton.
I'm gonna give Tony a call tomorrow and see if possibly the f/w
is balanced to his motor. I don 't beleive so.
The vibration is too much ands get much worse with rpm. In or out of gear.
Gear engagement is poor to say the least.
I'm thinking ...possibly the pilot bearing damaged on install
or the assembly needs balanced. Although Roman raises a
fresh perspective.

I forgot you used to be a M6 guy. I'm very interested in your findings. My search results thus far consist of contradicting opinions and more "my friends sisters boyfriends buddy works at a trans shop so it must be true"

it could be the pilot, but the trans went in fairly smoothly. and when we took out the trans the pilot bearing looked ok! grrrr! have you thought of calling mcleod? this is a tough one to figure out! sorry i didn't get a chance to call you today.
