Tach help

Ok ive tried two tachs so far still i cant get one to show the RPMS im at they all level down at 0 and stay there.
I thought maybe the wire was bad so i checked it and it transfers power just fine. so its not the wire. so it hought then the wire out of the box. so i bypassed going to the box with them both, and went to the negative on the coil.(like i was told to do) and still NOTHING.
if any one has had this ever or knows whats going on or whats wrong. please let me konw. btw we have our power and ground hooked up correctly. along with ignition on.
we are clueless on this.
any insight is greatly apreciated.
we are goign to try another tach that we konw for sure works perfectly fine but doubt highly that its going to work. we have no idea what is goign on.
Thanks
John.

Re: Tach help

you do have the other 3 wires hooked up correctly, right?
are you sure you are on the negative side of the coil?

are you trying to hook it up at the coil with a MSD hooked up?

if so, don't, hook it up to the white wire from the car harness(the original coil connectors) the goes into the MSD

Re: Tach help

yeah, there is no stock harness if thats what your thinkin dave. I have the red to switched power, the black to ground, and the green wire to the tack signal wire out of the 6aln. which in this box is brown. my 6al's have a tac output pin, but this one has a weatherproof 6 way conn. comeing out of it and no tac output like the 6al has. I ohm tested the tac wire from the box, its good. then I bypassed my new harness and went straight from the box, to a new wire ran outside the car and into the window to hook up directly to the tac. still nothing. Im just starting to think the tac. output wire isnt working comeing out of the 6aln box.
john, call msd and see if we should be able to run that wire to the negative wire on teh coil. we know it didnt work, but see if it SHOULD have worked.
