true dual exhaust

Anyone know where I can find or have made a true dual exhaust for my '02 SS? Anyone have this done or had any problems etc, etc?

Edit: And if you want to see how it fits and how it sounds on a cammed LS1 I have the exact same setup on my car right now. That will cost you over $400 to duplicate.

Re: true dual exhaust

I saw you had a 2.5" for sale but i need a 3". Where did you get yours done? Is $400 unreasonable for that kind of work?

Also, I work in Livonia, so if its okay, maybe I could swing by and check yours out sometime.

Re: true dual exhaust

Well, $400 included parts so no, I wouldn't say its hard at all. Now the problem you would run into with a 3" system is it forces you to use a thicker muffler, even a 3" bullet has a case with a larger diameter, costing you precious ground clearance. Most other mufflers with a 3" inlet have a 4" thick case. Not to sound like a salesman but is there any particular reason you wanted to go with a dual 3" system?

Pretty much because the collectors on my headers are 3" and i didn't want to restrict the exhaust by narrowing it down to 2.5".

Re: true dual exhaust

you dont need 3" exh.. in fact, you'll loose low end torque, and gain TONS of volume (and i dont mean in a good way, ofcourse everyone's gonna have a diff. opinion) and lose alot of ground clearance you'll miss haveing everytime you go up a steep parkinglot entrance way. I had a system made in livonia just last week at a shop I can send you to near 8mi. and middlebelt. the price was $250 + the cost of the mufflers. infact, I have johns car here in my driveway with the 2.5"true duals w/bullets on it right now if you want to stop by and check it out before you buy. maybe you'll love it, maybe you'll decide its just too loud. I highly recomend hearing/driving in one since you have the chance first.

Re: true dual exhaust

I had mine done at Muffler Man on Michigan Avenue last wednesday. $225 + $80 for the mufflers from Summit. I went 3" because I'm not doing the exhaust again, this is the 3rd time and I will be going with a stroker in the future. I really cant say if the 3" will hurt because it sure as hell helped my car out a ton as the old y-pipe exhaust was blown out around the crossover by the trans. Where I hit my y-pipe I dont on my true duals. Ground clearance is in fact much better. Take it slow and depending on what you come up against, you will never bottom out the exhaust.

Re: true dual exhaust

I don't have any problems with my y-pipe now as far as ground clearance goes. Do you have a pic of your ground clearance now with the duals?
