Turn key, no crank

Over the winter I've removed my airbags, power seats, radio and speakers, and cruise control. I'm turning the car into a road course car. However, today when I went to start it for the first time I turned the key and all my accessories powered up, lights on the IP turned on, fuel pump powered up, etc. In the start position I don't hear a thing. I don't think my battery is the culprit since I get the same thing even using a plug in jump starter.

I have to wonder if something I disconnected also has to carry a voltage to allow the starter to get a voltage. The cruise control module that I disconnected is near the driver's side headlight. Does that operate anything else?

How do I check the clutch safety switch? For instance, it's acting exactly like I don't have the clutch depressed enough.

Does anyone have any ideas? I have a track day in 3 weeks and I really don't want to miss it.

No, the security light is not flashing.

I did remove the airbag on the steering wheel and I disconnected the SIR yellow connectors beneath the steering column, but that's about it in that area.

If the clutch safety switch goes out on the car, does that mean my car won't start? I checked the Haynes manual and it leads me to believe the car will start if the clutch safety switch malfunctions.

I've also removed my center console, which had some electrical connectors going to another SIR piece there, and some console lighting, etc. I disconnected all those electrical connectors and they're zip tied behind my dash for now. With a 6 speed, is there any electrical connection that needs to stay connected in that area for a car to start? Some kind of gear selection safety switch? I think with a 6 speed car that's covered with the clutch safety switch.

If I check for voltage at my starter tomorrow when the key is in the start position, and don't see voltage, where would you recommend back tracking to find the source of the problem? If I do see voltage there I will assume the starter is out.

To check fuses on the car, if I use my multimeter, can I just check for continuity on the fuse block terminals (not infinite resistance)?

if there is no power at the starter, then the next step is to check the neutral safety sw. located on the clutch pedal arm. w/the pedal depressed, you should have continuity through the switch. there may be a starter relay in that car since its a stick. on autos, there is a PRNDL sw. on the trans that it also goes through, but since yours is a stick, I think thats it. also you can check the starter wire coming from the bottom of the strg. column (off the ign. sw) it should be either yellow or purple I think. if you dont get it figured out tomorrow night, call my cell tues. mourning/midday and I'll look up the elec. schematic for it and see exactly where the wire goes to and what color it is and anything else we need to look at.

Well, for future reference the theft deterent module on a Firebird is screwed to the airbag module. When I removed the pass. side airbag I removed the theft deterrent module unwittingly. I unscrewed it from the bracket tonight and plugged it back in and voila, the car started. Wahoo!

Chris came over tonight and using the factory service manual we figured out that I was missing this module. I'm gonna have to go ahead and spend the money for one of those manuals sooner or later.

Thanks for the help Chris and everyone else.
