The easiest way to see who's better between DLR and Sammy is to look at the stuff they did outside of VH.

DLR- Well... ummm... errr... uhhh... yeah...

Sammy- Montrose, and a bad-*** solo career.

Cliff Notes: Bad Motor Scooter>>>>>>>>>>>Just like Paradise

Face it. DLR's solo career is best known for a Beach Boys cover.

You miss read what I said. I've been a fan since 78. I was 12. So I can base everything I know on DLR, Sammy, and Gary. Let me tell you somthing DLR did not start this band. Eddie didn't want Roth in it in the first place. They found him struggling
Before they were signed by Warner Bros, Sammy was thier first choice. Words from Alex himself. I'm a big fan of DLR. Don't take what I say as pro Sammy and anti Dave. They both helped make VH what it is today. Eddie is VH though. Take him out of the picture and what do you have. And I've seen every Detroit show. And every Auburn Hills show. And every Clarkston show. And Believe you me I WILL be in the front row. And I WILL be backstage. People that matter in the rock selling industry know me very well and always make my day when it comes to VH.

So are you the guy in the pics on the walls in Gregs Pizza in clarkston?
Just wondering since you are from Clarkston and there are lots of pics of VH in there with a local??? wondering??

I remember skipping third hour in the 12 grade to go buy Van Halen/ Van Halen in 1978 when it came out
Hooked big time!
I have seen EVERY! VH tour that came thru Detroit!!
The Masonic Temple show before they started head lining the first album. They opened up for Black Sabbath... Do tell me Which song opened thier set and closed the set??
Hint it was without the solo intro then with the intro to end the set!!!!
Saw the VHII tour in Kansas City at Kemper arena 10 row main floor then again in Detroit at Cobo. Anyone remember the opening act on that tour?? The coming attractions...they suxed!
Woman and Children first... Need I say more
Saw all three nites on the 4th of july weekend when the Fair Warning tour sold out CoBO for the run. Went To WABX and meet the band in the Parking lot when they did the live radio spot.
Diver down with the Remote stage that dave did his Kick boxing Gig in..
...Remember How he Dave got out to that remote stage?
your awnser here>>
And the song he sung while doing it??
your awnser here>>

Then the 5150 thing at the Dome...um Monsters of Rock
A ok show sound suxed
Then the next Two tours thru the Palace with a repeat apperance out at pine ****.
Then Pine **** then the Gary year
At Least "GC" could SING the old tunes and not just 3 classic VH cuts that limit the fans hearing the stuff from the "First GEN VH" performed live!
I sure hope the New "BEST OF II" album will have currently written "NEW" tracks for those 3 tracks that will be on it and not some old unreleased stuff from Past "Second GEN VH" releases!!
I Have always went to the shows for the music the band put in your face and the Awsum playing of Eddie> I just feel the fans get RIPED OFF not hearing the work from the 1st gens outstanding writtings!
I liked all three Gens because it was the Music and playing of the core three in the bad that blows my aZZ away

Oh and Ya I do like sammy I saw Montrose open up for BTO at Cobo in 1975!
Saw sammy on street machine tour in kansas city at arrowhead stadium..summer rock festival.
KILLER SHOW KILLER SET! sammy did alot of the monrose stuff on his solo tours back then

I'd give my left nut to hear Van Halen with Sammy do ROCK CANDY LIVE!

First, no I'm not the guy in Greg's pizza, (that I know of). I've never been there.

Second, are you trying to be hostile? And one uping me. If so fine. Every time I mention I've been to every Detroit area show, people want to try and knock me down. Why is that? And Why is it that because I'm a big fan and know more than the average fan or say Eddie IS the band. Someone has got something to say. Believe me I'm glad you have a special place for VH. I'm not going to try and take that away.

Third, the new songs are just that, new. One being a song Sammy has said is going to be VH's "Stairway to heaven". Another being a hard rocker. I haven't heard about the third other than BOVHII might not have a third new song. It has been said that this is Warner's baby and VH is going to release a full album next year. Eddie has said he has alot of music to put out.
Sammy dosen't totally leave out Dave era music. He's done just about all of Dave's popular stuff. Unchained, You really got me, Jump, Panama, and Ain't talkin bout love. plus others I don't have on bootlegg. Sure there is ego there. But let me ask you a question about this topic. If your dating someone, do you really want to wear your girlfriend's ex's underwear? Sammy dosen't want to be covering Dave's stuff. I can understand that. He's a better song writer. Dave has released what, 7 albums(1 being a EP) since VH. The first and second one being great. Sammy has, I don't have any idea, how many outside albums. Before and after VH. The writing is on the wall. Sammy is better for VH. Not better than, better for.

I'm not saying I'm a know all I'm saying I know more the the average fan. Period. Believe me goto vhforums.com. That is the place for major DIEHARD fans like me and thensome. That is the place where all radio stations have been getting their info. vhnd.com is owed by someone that just bought it from the original owner. (what a bad time to sell it). that is one of the first posters of vhforums.com. One other site to goto is melodicrock.com . Very good info on VH and other rock bands.

Not try'n to one up you at all, don't know where you got that ?
You stated "how big a VH fan" you are and how far you go back following them and I did the same..what I do wrong bro?

But I do have to say why would a band give up playing the music they wrote when Eddie, mike, and Al wrote it? They are the ones getting paid for the sales from the first gen catalog still. He11 dave had to sue to get his content in the writing.
The only first gen songs Vh ever played when in detroit with sammey up front were:
anit talkin bout love
pannama
jump and you really got me.
Then for one of the tours we got unchained thrown in.
All's Im say'n is there is so many more clasisic VH tunes with rip your face off play'n by eddie, mike, and al...period!
ITS THE MUSIC CONTENT..I don't care who sings it just play it live becuase its best like that

But what I'm getting with the ditry laundry statement is you would not want to Go to a Robert Plant show and hear Zepplin tunes played because it wouldn't be right to ask the guy sitting in John Bonhams spot to play it....
......Please man listen to what your say'n

By the way the last 4 lines above are the "Dig" part now

Jeff

ps go by Gregs pizza and check out the cool pics of the band on the wall. There all "back stage" stuff that some "LUCKY" local got from quite a few of the VH tours with him and his girl. Thoght It might have been you man.
Peace out

and my dog can take your dog ..hahahahaha <funny not a dig

Sorry bout that I must of misread what you said. Tell ya what. Look me up in the parking lot of where ever they come to. Just look for the MBM 99 z28 with a huge VH banner with WRIF all over it. I'll buy you a beer.

By the way before I forget. I met VH the last time they came through. Got a good pic of it hanging at my shop. After I met them Eddie caled me a Mother Fuc***. True story.

i'll be at my 98 ram white pickup partying with none other than VH blaring!

i got to do a meet and greet once, but my brother was at the Balance Album Release in London England where he met them and they signed his guitar, my Vh hat and an oil painting that my brother's wife did. that too was up on stage at the ****.

if you guys were at the show back then then maybe you'll Remember when a canvas was thrown up onto stage (from tthe 4th row, Mikey's side of the stage) and Sammy held it up for the crowd....if you recall he held it upside down, lmao!!!! we yelled its upside down, and he held it right side up. remeber the rain that night!!! i wiped out on the SLICK steps hurt my back, cut my arm wide open and lost 2 beers, i should've sued that night! the usher ran down to see if i wasok, and recommended i goto first aid. well i said hell no, you know how much i paid for these seats, lmmfao!!1 guess you had to be there. the next night they had no slip on the steps! ****ers! i should've called Sam Bernstein! i would've owned pine ****.

no i am not trying to up anyone, thought it was a funny story to share amongst VH fans.
