Who attends u of m dearborn?
how is it there? what kind of town is it? im looking into transferring there next fall. i go to school in texas and my college town is very quite and full of illegal immigrants. when i go to work everyday i see tons of them standing on the corner looking for work. its getting worse very day and its getting old. and they have a fond interest in my z which i dont like. im so tired of my school and town. so who likes it at dearborn?

I go there too. It's ok. Don't really have much to compare it to academic-wise. The UM-D engineering degree seems to be well respected. The campus life is extremely dull though. There's a few student organizations, but there's not anywhere near the level of excitement or liveliness that you'll find at a bigger, non-commuter type school. If you're interested in an education first and foremost, it'll be a good school.

I dont attend, but I lived nearby, and went to the comm. college next door for my auto class's years back. the area is surrounded by a diff. kind of immagrants though (middle eastern). you prolly wouldnt want to live too close to campus though, not a terrible neighborhood, but not good either. but dearborn heights is very close to the west, and westland, redford, and livonia are all great area's to live in and are only 5- 30 min.s away. my mom graduated from there with her teaching degree, and she loved the school.

yeah my parents live up there now in grosse pointe. they told me that its very diverse at u of m dearborn. im looking for a very upbeat college. it doesn't sound like the place for me. but ill keep on looking.

It is very diverse...it has middle easterners...and...er...more middle easterners. There's a few orientals, indians, blacks, and whites thrown in as well. It is not what I'd consider an upbeat college, but the price is right, and the education is very good.

I hated UofM-D, I ended up transfering to LTU (Lawrence Technological University) for my Bachelors Degree. For me LTU had a better atmosphere and courses were taught by experts in the field not just bookworms.

Yeah, its not like going to UofM Ann Arbor. Completely different.
A lot of the professors currently teach or have previously taught at the Ann Arbor campus as well. I have taken a few of them and all have claimed to treat the two campuses exactly the same.
I have also talked to a few people who came from out of state to be a part of the engineering program. They specifically stated that they chose the Dearborn program over the Ann Arbor program.
Overall it has been a pretty solid school. I chose to transfer to Lawrence Tech because of the different programs they offer. I cant say I had a bad experience at Dearborn other than a few problems with the student population. Don't be too quick to rule it out.

I graduated from there in 2004 with a mechanical engineering degree. UMD has a well respected engineering program. I learned quite a bit. A month before I graduated, I already had two job offers. So I liked the school. It worked well for me.
