Nitrous Nitrous Nitrous
I figure I should ask here too........
Well I just picked up the latest issue of Hotrod. And I noticed once again the huge benifits of nitrous. I mean I bet a good 70% of the cars that were in this years pump gas drags were on nitrous. Now I keep hearing, that LT1's work great with nitrous. And I know a few local guys who have ran it on their cars for a while now.
And here I sit with my bolt on lt1 formy, wondering. I have about 90k on the clock. And I have a set of spair heads sitting in my bedroom. And I have always thought about doing a heads and cam swap. But the money always ends up getting spent for misc crap. Well I'm getting better at saving money. But.... I keep wondering. Should I just get a 100 shot and play with it?
So here is the thing. With 90k on the clock. Would running a 100 shot (wet) be pushing the envelope. From most of my reading I have been doing, it sounds like the safty systems have came along way. And I'm wondering if I should just slapmy 3000 stall in the car, and just replace the valve springs, and misc valvetrain, and put it on the gun. Does this sound rational? Or would I be better off sticking a mild cam in it, and save up for a short block in the mean while?
So for you nitrous guys out there, what would you suggest to guy like me?

I would get a nx wet kit. You should be fine if you dont go over 150 shot. I always wanted to do it to but i know that i will once i get a new motor.
You should be fine lots of people run a 150 shot on stock lt1 motors and they have lasted well.

100 shot will be fine. Put a low fuel pressure shutdown on it,get a bottle heater, nitros and fuel filter and go have fun. There are different ideas on pulling timing but ya need to call the manufactures of the system ya buy and ask about how many degrees timing retard per 50HP shot.
If ya try to leave on the N2O ya rear end may not last to long.

Yeah I put a dry 125shot back when my car was stock and it was the best bang for the buck out there. My car went from 13.80's@99mph to 12.70@110mph on Kumho radials and ran it like that for 2 years with 100kmiles on it. Now the car runs low 11's N/A and with the small jets (150HP NX) brings it down to 10.30@130mph then the ET's drop when I jet the n2o up. I ran those #'s on the stock 10bolt with 3.42's and 1.50 60's. I never broke the rearend but upgraded b/c I was getting worried running 134+mph on that stock 10bolt. Later and goodluck. Clint

Do it Mike! You'll be fine on a 100 wet shot. Change out your plugs to a colder set; get a window switch and a fuel pressure safety switch. A bottle heater is a real good idea on a wet kit too. If you have any questions ask!

Do a wet shot, better bang for your buck, and safer... My car with a NX Wet 150 kit on low bottle pressure went from 13.7 @ 100 down to 12.1 @ 116.
