FS: Cheap laptops
I have a few old laptops for sale that may be useful to some folks.
Compaq LTE5400 Laptop
150Mhz Pentium
48MB RAM
2.0GB hard drive
3.5" disk only, no CD-rom
Power Adapter
Battery in unknown condition. As-is, but it currently boots to an OS. It does give a CMOS battery error during boot and there is a BIOS password that I don't know. You can hit f10 to go through the error and the system boots fine. No OS will be installed on the hard drive. $140 shipped
IBM Thinkpad 760C
Don't know the processor for sure, but I think it is between 120Mhz and 150Mhz.
24MB RAM
1.0GB Hard Drive
3.5" disk only, no CD-rom
Power Adapter
Battery also in unknown condition. As-is, but it currently boots to an OS. No OS will be installed on the hard drive. $130 shipped
E-mail gibsonz28@comcast.net if you have any questions.
Thanks!

FYI a 760C was a P90
The CPU 'could' be upgraded to a 120MHz but it was a very expensive IBM option and it was not an easy upgrade, every single screw and board in the laptops needed to come apart to swap chips.
odds are yours is still a P90
No other CPU upgrades were possible on that machine.
There is a jumper (JP1) on your 5400 to clear the CMOS password (one of the few laptops that do it that way) someone probably unplugged the CMOS battery trying to clear it.
Your laptop will probably work again if you plug the CMOS battery back in, set the date and time and clear the pasword.
TTT for ya.
