I got ripped off by someone on E-bay a while ago. I requested his contact info (address, phone number, etc.) and I contacted the local authorities. A detective from the local police contacted me and said this person was "known" to them. (Thieves seldom only steal once). I worked with them and he was arrested. I received a full refund and have been receiving checks for " punative damages" from the court system every few months for the last year.

Don't let this rest. Keep pursuing it. Put the scum bag in jail! By the way, the person who ripped me off lived in NY. The authorities up there were very helpful in my situation. Don't hesitate to contact them.

 

He had an eariler tread trying to sell the stealth ram and I was considering buying it. I emailed him on 4-19 and asked if he still had it for sale and he emailed me saying no one had bought it yet, what a POS. I hope you can get it worked out, good luck.

I will try to find out someinfo on him he has a po box so it might a little harder. But my bro is 3 hrs west of cairo,ny and frequently visits nyc, and cairo is on the way. Plus he has some big friends. My mom should know some state troopers too if we can find out some real info.

From today's email:
since you caused me problems by ruining my paypal account and threatning me

with the police by the way i called the local police and they said theirs
nothing you can do its a civil matter so i will see you in court i was trying to

work this out but now you can take a hike good luck.

I have already contacted the local police and they are working an investigation with me. They will take a while they said but they will be paying him a visit.
He seems to think that money grows on trees. Well, I have a surprise for him --- it doesn't. I will be taking legal action against this person and doing everying possible to get him to give me my money back.

If someone worked out a similar situation with another scammer, please PM me to let me know fine details. The police are working the issue and I try to contact them every 3 days or so.

BTW: Don't buy anything on the forum without pictures, phone numbers, and physical address. Tell possible sellers that you will contact them prior to sealing the deal. Use the internet, there is a ton of information you can gather on an address or phone number.

I have been buying on forums and EBAY for almost 6 years and this is the first person that does this to me!

 

What a loser. A good *** beating is the only thing to solve this one.

 

How does a COD work exactly and what is it?? I've heard a little about them and I am currently in the process of buying lots of parts online for my car and was worried that i am going to get screwed at some point.

 

Maybe there should be a " Top 20 or 50 List " of people who we shouldn't deal with on here. It seems there are alot of guys who have been ripped off one way or another. I figure a list of "Bad Buyers and Sellers " should be posted up on every F-body Message Board out there. We as car guys should have some kind of "un-spoken code of honor" and trust among each other that what we sell and buy is legit. And have a " Blue Ribbon Icon " to indicate a good buyer or seller. Now if there is problem, then the two parties can try to work things out among themselves..privately. It's sad a few bad apples can ruin a whole bunch. Just my $0.02

 

C.O.D = Cash On Delivery . UPS will only accept a money order when you are buying from someone else and if you are selling to someone and that the way you want to collect your money. The sweet part about COD is ,if you are selling something to someone ,it's delivered ,and let's say they don't have the money ,then your product is return to you. Sweet ! COD and Paypal is the only things I use now when selling my old or slightly used parts. Hope this helps a little.

 

No **** man i agree. I have the honesty to not rip somone off but does they guy who your buying stuff from?? It lame that someone could actualy steal money he didnt work for that someone else worked for.

 

So then say if you're buying with COD, you don't actually pay anything until the item comes to your house?? Do you just tell the seller to ship the item COD and then when it comes to your house you pay for it and then the person just collects that after the item is recieved by me at UPS location it was shipped from?? if it is like that it seems more reassuring than paypal even, cuz with paypal, when you are buying, you pay for the item first and who know if it will actually be shipped after the item is charged to your card..

 

With COD through UPS you pay NOTHING until you receieve the item. The seller has to front up the shipping charges. A lot of sellers do not like to do this b/c if the item is declined, they are out that money. But since I only buy online, I do nothing but COD. If a seller does not want to front the shipping charges, I guess they do not really believe that the item they are selling is worth the risk. I say all buyers should request COD, b/c if a seller gets scammed they still have their stuff, but if a buyer gets scammed they lose everything. There is usually a small fee for COD, but check with your shipper of choice. I believe this protects both parties involved b/c I do no think buyers are going to waste time trying to screw the sellers. Just my 2 cents.........

 

UPDATE I have called Rick's mother twice in the past 2 months. She is a 75 year old lady with a serious medical condition, hanging on day by day, and her POS son doesn't even have the decency (sp) to go see her. She has no idea where he lives, no phone # or nothing and hasn't spoken to him in months. I called my bank over and over, and finally I talked to someone that gave a $hit. She told me I had to write a letter of dispute to the bank and mail it in within 120 days of the transaction. I asked the teller at the bank the other day where to send it to and was informed that I could drop it off at the main office 5 min away from work. I did so this past Tue or Wed. and the money is already in my account !!! So I hope you read this Rick Cardarella because since I got my money back from the bank, they're coming after you. $hit rolls downhill buddy and I think you just got
