For Sale--383 w/ 490hp&500tq
The engine started as a useable core 4-bolt block and was honed w/ torque plate and align bored. An Eagle crank was installed and the Eagle rods were bolted in with "Notch" Keith Black pistons & Moly rings. The rotating assembly was balanced and the whole engine was blueprinted. A hydraulic cam with .510/.510 Lift was added and then the bottom end was buttoned up. Next, a set of ProTopLine Vortec heads were massaged for 2.05/1.60 valves & gutted to flow 295int/218exh and fitted with springs to match the cam. The heads were bolted on with chrome center-bolt covers and the top end was finished off with a Edelbrock Super Victor intake for Vortecs. These heads squeeze the engine to a "Pump Friendly" 10.9-1 compression (more about that in a minute).
After the engine was finished, it was bolted on the SuperFlow dyno for about 30 pulls for tuning and testing of different parts(intakes, etc). A pretty good average of the runs is right around 490hp/500tq. The highest was 495hp/505tq. 93 octane fuel was used for most of the pulls, but racing fuel was used hoping to get over 500hp but didn't change the #'s enough to mention(EGT's didn't change either). So, this is the perfect STREET ENGINE! After the dyno pulls a leak down test was performed on all cylinders to check for damage and no cylinder was over 9%. I have a dyno sheet with the results of the leakdown test of each cylinder if there are any questions about a particular cylinder or anything else. The engine is still bolted to the dyno at this time, but will be removed in a couple of weeks. So if you are interested in seeing the results for your self, contact us quickly.
The engine is for sale from intake to oil pan, with the flywheel & harmonic balancer and the water pump. All that will be needed to be ready to run is a carb, distributor, wires, plugs, and alternator. The engine is being offered for $ 4,000. That is a steal for these kinds of numbers.
If you are interested contact Rick Meade at (606)432-6545 or email me @ htrd69@hotmail.com I have a couple of pics and can email them to you.
