VORTEC Heads 5.7 350 Chevy re-BUILT Racing .600 lift MAKE OFFER !!
hey ..
feel free to make an offer .. they are on ebay ..
http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/ws/eB...tem=2474044903
MY Vortec Heads .. Built for LOTS of High performance driving .. Track days , Solo events , whatever event I would/could find ... I wanted the best flowing , most affordable , off the shelf units with a PROVEN durability record .
What does it take to have the most durable and best flowing heads out there ???? You'll need to start with the best casting you can afford , then add the best parts you can afford ....
Here's what I did ....
Start with known good Vortec Cores ..Casting # 906 .$350
Since stock Vortec 1.94/1.6 valves only flow till .480 lift .. 2.02 and 1.6 stainless steel valves with rolled under cut stems where used for better flow . Should flow good to .600 lift !!! $95
Then you'll need springs for that kind of lift , .600 lift single springs , stock diameter , taller than stock ..better for rev'ing , lighter than double or triples and easier on the lifters and push rods too. $90
Offset/drop keepers allow you to use the taller springs , retains stock valve length but allows for taller springs in the stock location .$30
Then I needed something to hold those springs back , Chrome Moly retainers ..no to mention they are light weight too $40
Now you don't want those big springs and high lift cam to push your rocker arm studs right out , you'll need screw in Rocker Arm studs , ARP are the best $45
All that lift and high pressure springs , your bound to have flexing and bending push rods .. $25 Chrome moly guide plates will help stop that !!!
why bother to run those old rubber seals , you know they are going to FAIL !! $35 Viton seals
Then I spent $400 on machine work, cut seats for bigger valves, valve pockets cut out for better flow , guides cut down for viton seals and more lift area , tap for screw in studs, deck milled .030 to raise compression
In My Honest Option .. These are about the best head setup you can have on a small block chevy , without porting or exotic castings . Vortec heads come on 1996 and up Heavy Duty TRUCK engines , but will bolt to ANY Generation 1 Small Block Chevy . (not 92up LT1 Gen2, or LS1 Gen 3) . They are known for being the best flowing head on the market . Iron heads will outlast Aluminum versions hands down !!! That's why I choose them , half the price for alittle more weight and all the reliability you can get !!!
Cost for the best "bang for the buck" out there $1110 ... Cost for knowing you'll win the race and drive it home ... Priceless ...
