no, get yourself either the California Water Blade or some sort of squeege. you can use the chamois with the water blade, the water blade just swipes all the water from the surface leaving nothing but a shine. (?) use the two or sub a towel for the chamois and you'll have a dry car, for sure.

 

The Toro 210 MPH (or greater) electric leaf blower works great as well.

 

I also use a blower and 100% cotton towels (bought from KevinSS) to finish the drying. I also use baby diapers, which are 100% cotton and soft enough for a baby's butt.

According to an Audi driving friend of mine that is very much into the detail thing, the "Aquis Hair Towel" from Bed, Bath & Beyond is the best drying towel money can buy. Be sure to buy the one with the "waffle" pattern.

you can find them at walmart. it is a type of chamois that does not scratch you car. it is better than the old leather chamois. i have one but i am going to try the blower idea when i wash my car this time. hope this helps.

The absorber works great to soak up water instead of towels but on a black car it's no 'shammy'. It leaves water marks and streaks on mine.

 

The ABSORBER works well for me.

 

A microfiber towel, specifically the "miracle towel". Chamois work well but nothing works like a miracle towel. They work well for removing wax too. I'd also second the water blade.

i have a '97 black t/a that i washed and dried with chamios till recently switching to leaf blower. chamois never scratched or swirled my finish and believe me i washed this car alot. so i can't say anything bad other than it was more time consuming than the leaf blower. BTW i also own a black ford truck and a black jeep so you can imagine my garage looks more like a car wash.

I used to use a leaf blower, and they work great, but over here, it's a hassle. You have to plug the extension cord into a transfomer, cause the voltage is 220, and then plug that into the wall. Now I just use the Absorber, and it works awesome!

With a chamois you should always buy the synthetic such as the absorber and not the natural because the natural contains oils and acids and what not that can, supposedly, eat away at your car's wax. Just a FYI for all you chamois users.
