Red face Cleaning your windows... Especially the INSIDE fo the WINDSHIELD!!!

OK, once and for all, what is the best way to clean your windows? In particular things like the inside of the windshield?

No matter what I try, there are always smears and streaks.

Verrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrry frustrating!!

I know what you mean...those streaks are like trying to see through fog. I use DuraGloss glass cleaner on the inside and out. It cuts that film and streaking really well and leaves a crystal clear surface. I use it with a microfiber rag though, don't know if that itself has anything to do with it. Stoners makes a top notch cleaner called "Invisible Glass" that works really well too. But, the DG is cheap and works great for me.

Hey - I'm willing to try it!

I assume that DuraGloss glass cleaner is available locally at an auto shop?

If not, do you have a link to someone online?

Thanks!

I think that the microfibre towel does make a big differance. I've used one with several cleaners and have had much better luck than with paper towels.

Here's a link if you want to read about it: https://www.duragloss.com/new/products/gl-cleaners.htm It's the No. 761 Cleaner. The prices on the website are usually higher than what I've found in the store, usually by a couple bucks, but varies by product. You can get the DG locally at Carquest auto stores around here. Like I said, it's cheap, but does the job for me. I'm sure there are probably better cleaners at higher prices, but I don't need them. The microfiber towel probably does have something to do with its cleaning ability though. If you happen to try some, I'd be interested to see how it worked for you. Seems like a decent product to me...

Before you jump out and try some, maybe someone else can recommend something that could be better. You can get microfiber cloths at Autozone (Viking brand) or much better quality from www.properautocare.com The Vikings kinda suck, so I use them for glass and other grunt work.

HTH!

I use half metho diluted in water. I use a spray bottle to apply on window, and then clean the window with a tea towel, and then quickly buff off with a small bath towel. Comes up crystal clear.

BTW! Dont use methylated spirits on the inside of windows which are tinted, over time it will ruin the tint!!

Windex makes a new foam cleaner that works great for the inside windshield. It is a streak-free formula which is extremely necessary to produce a clean and clear glass.I was amazed by how well it worked. One cleaning pass and one polishing pass and its done. I am a smoker and it removes that awful film that smoke leaves. Best part this cleaner can be found everywhere. I use a 100% cotton hand towel for this detailing activity.
The way that I had this discovery was by observing how well the windows looked that my wife was cleaning around the house.

Eagle Vision 20/20 works great for me. I use an old terry bath towel or hand towel and everything shines. I find it at Checker's but I think most auto stores carry it. And yes, the inside of the windshield is the absolute WORST!
