cracked fiberglass door
Was wondering the easiest solution to fix a nice big ol crack in my passenger door, should i take it to a body shop or what, i would prefer just to buy a door and have them painted but with the age i don't want the paint not to match becasue of the new painted door any advice would be welcomed.

Pictures would help. GM sells a fiberglass door skin that is glued on to the door frame. It can be replaced if bondo wont work. The glue is expensive from what I remember. I think the cost of the skin was around $260 from the steelership. Maybe its cheaper elsewhere. If you can find a used door in the junk yard for that cost or less, it might be the most cost effective. I would start getting quotes for body shops to see how much it is going to cost and what methods they would use to repair it. If they can fix the crack without having to replace the door skin then

thanks for the answers, umm one body shop i went to told me 1500 replacing the door and blending the paints and such, i asked another body shop how much to fix if i got a nice door and he told me depends on the condition of the door. I believe i'm going to find a door at a junkyard and get it painted the only problem with that is i don't want it to not match the rest of the car do to fading over time so i was wondering if anyone else had an easy solution

A good paint match will match the current fade of the paint and the color will fade the same as the rest of the body for the most part. You'll want to find a good painter though since this is on the board side of the car and will have to match front and rear fenders really good for people not to notice.

I payed about 80 bucks to have my new side mirror painted and it matched perfect.
And they did not have the car to match the colour.
But a door might be much I think as long as use the factory brand paint it should match up find but I'm not a painter.

Pick up a good condition junkyard door and have them paint match the door to your car. Install the door yourself. $1500 is crazy.
What color is your car? Some colors are a lot easier to match then others...

That was a high production color. If you're lucky and patient, perhaps you can find another polo green car and not have to get the door painted at all.

If you have trouble finding a door you could try http://www.car-part.com/ to locate parts from junk dealers. Ive used it in the past with good success. You might be able to find something local.
Otherwise you could always post up in a regional forum seeking people parting out f-bodys.

Does it look like this? This is my crack on My 1994 Camaro Z28. I bought the car like this, I have never got around to getting it fixed. The doors easily crack since its made out of Fiberglass. Some of my friends never even notice the crack until I told them, and this is years of me owning it.
