Unhappy Dust attraction with Z!

I’ve been using Zaino for the past several months and while I’m impressed with its durability, I really didn’t like the amount of dust I was getting. Just a few hours after applying a fresh coat, my car would get a lot of dust and I could even feel the static when putting my arm close to the surface. I tried switching back over to Einszett last weekend, which is the wax I was using before trying Zaino, and I didn’t get nearly the same amount of dust. In my original post, some of you responded by saying Einszett attracts more dust because of its silicone oils but I’m confused because while your reasoning makes sense, I just get a lot more dust attraction with Z. Maybe I am doing something wrong? Using Z-6 doesn’t seem to help much at all. Since I think the shine I get with Einszett is just as good as Z-5, I really don’t see why I should continue using Z. It’s not as durable as Z, but it’s durable enough for me. Am I the only one having dust problems?

I this it might just be you. I seem to get a lot LESS dust on my car using zaino and Z6 regularly, then I did weekly applying Meguiars or Mothers. My car is black too, so you can SEE dust quick and it's nothing a daily wipe with a Cali Duster doesn't make good on.

Especially when I use Z6 over Z2 or Z5, my surface becomes anti-static and frictionless. A towel will glide across to the other side. Maybe you're doing something wrong? Reevaluate your process and try again.

When you dry your towels be sure to take them out of the dryer while they are still damp and hang them to air dry, this will keep your towels from getting static charged which transfers to the cars paint, less static on your paint less dust and dirt pickup, of course pollen will stick to anything. After applying Meguiar's products and Liquid Glass at our shops for years I have found Zaino to attract less dust and dirt by far than either one of these products.

Yep, the towels can definitely do it. Generally the Z-6 seems to remove ALL the static from my SS. Dust will settle on anything, but most of the dust comes right off when I drive it. I also use a California Duster then Z-6 when there is dust.

All very good suggestions, most of which I've already tried but to no avail. To Z's credit, the dust attraction does seem to settle down a few car washes after I apply a fresh coat, but I can't ignore the way it takes about a month for this to happen. I've used Z-6 many times and that doesn't seem to help much.

The only thing I haven't tried yet is the drying of the towels method, which to me is a bit too much trouble. However, if this really was the cause of the problem, wouldn't I have the same problem when using Einszett?

I guess I could be doing something wrong, but since Z is so highly touted as a straightforward and simple to use product, it's hard to imagine that a few quirky techniques on my part would cause a product renown for its dust repellency to suddenly become something of a dust magnet.

Oh well, I guess Z just isn't for me. It just goes to show how results can differ so much. Based on some reading up I've done, the dust attraction/repellency issue with Zaino seems to suffer from a total bi-polar disorder. Some people get the results that I do while others get excellent dust repellency.

I appreciate all the help and suggestions! One thing's for sure about the whole Zaino scene...people really believe in their product and are always eager to help out. Thanks again...

The only time I have seen this happend, and I think you hit upon it, is if a person does not let Zaino dry all the way out before removal of the polish. This creates a film of undried Zaino on the surface which never really cures properly that could cause some dust adhesion, washing the car or misting the paint with plain water and buffing off would solve this problem.

As Kevin said you maybe applying Zaino a little to thick causing dust to pickup on your paint, I have two dark blue cars that can go weeks without washing because they stay so dust free

After using Zaino for years I really never had much of a dust problem adn this living in Phoenix where dust is instant and always. Super thin coats, air drying your towels (MF or Cotton) and hitting your car with some Z6 should help you out.

I use Zaino..

I still get dust on my Formula that sits for most of the time uncovered but under a garage. However, it's not NEARLY as bad as when I was using Gold Class or anything else.

For instance, I mowed today and the car barely looks dirty at all. This is on top off two weeks worth of dust. It rained most of last weekend,so the car has not been driven much. With anything else, you wouldn't be able to see out of the windshield.
