I own a 2001 SS........ am I being paranoid or can I just spray the engine with no worries?

CD2 also makes an engine cleaner for the outside.. That is what I was referring to. You spray on the degreaser/cleaner, wait 10 minutes, hose it off, let the engine run for a few minutes and then spray on the detailer. This stuff is awesome!

Many things have changed since this picture, but you definitely get the idea. BTW, it is always this clean!

so since i got a 3.8 i dont have to worry about this? i also heard somethim about an open opti and a close one like some cars got open and theres are the vonerable ones?

AFIK, the V6 is not susceptible to water damaging the ignition.

Yes, CD2, as well as Gunk, makes a fairly good engine cleaner. I wasn't even thinking about the CD2 engine cleaner. If I'm under the car, I usually spray the block with brake cleaner if needed. The brake cleaner seems to do a better job than the engine cleaners.

Brake cleaner does clean well, but it will leave your parts looking extremely dull.

That's why I only use the brake cleaner on the parts of the block that can't be seen. I wouldn't use it on the top of the engine.
