Exhaust Tip Cleaning Product

I found that after getting rid of my cats that my chrome exhaust tips would get dirty and blackened quickly and I couldn't get it off easily. I have found that taking the tips of and soaking them in CLR (the bathroom calcium stain remover/cleaner) and then scrubbing the black soot with aluminum foil did an awesome job of getting the tips looking like new again.

The soaking really helps so I do this periodically, but just pouring a little CLR onto a piece of aluminum foil and then scrubbing a bit after every car wash does a nice job if they aren't too dirty. Just thought I would add this to the forum because I couldn't find something like this when I looked before. Hope this helps someone

Doesn't that stuff really eat off ALL of the tips? Like each time it might be taking a bit more of your chrome off?
Just a thought. I know people who use this stuff in their showers (tilesetter profession) and after a year or so of using it constantly, they have absolutely no grout left. I just figured that stuff would also wear off your tips as well.
I guess you'll see. Let me know if you notice anything.

I guess we will find out and I get to be the test subject. I started doing it about a year ago and so far they still look great so hopefully things stay that way

Even if it does happen to eat away at the chrome eventually, it has been the only thing that I could find to actually clean them so far.

it'll start to dull it if it's damaging. it won't just flake and fall off...

I've been using NevRDull on my B&B tips.
