Post How to clean tailpipe tips on center-mounted exhaust?

I've been trying to get the tips on my center-mounted exhaust clean on my '02 SS to no avail. I'm getting a carbon buildup and nothing seems to work. I've tried Simple Green, Never-dull and just plain 'ole elbow grease to scrub em clean.

What can you people recommend?

Are you referring to carbon buildup on the inside of the pipe? If so, I use Eagle One Aluminum Wheel cleaner and a toothbrush to clean the inside of my Borla tips/fins and they look as good as new (been on for 6 years). I then follow it up with Wenol (blue tube) or Blue Magic to polish up the inside as well as the outside polished stainless.

Mothers mag and alum. polish should work well. Carb cleaner spray could be used before the Mothers, it is good at removing carbon.
