How to get wax off plastic
I had my car polished, and they got it all over that plastic shield above the hood, which holds the wind shield wipers. Now, it is all stained white and faded in areas. Is there anything that will get it off?

Peanut butter is a temporary fix (because of the high oil content).
You could try a dedicated trim cleaner like GR-40, Meguiar's #39, etc. You could also try a diluted all-purpose cleaner.
When you get it clean, make sure to treat it with a water-based dressing.

I agree with the toothbrush. I would scrub with the dressing you want to finish with. It has worked for me. Just have a lint free cloth ready to wipe away the stuff you scrub away.
It sounds like they used a buffer and didnt tape off the non painted stuff. Definately a 'no no' in the polishing field.

I know it sounds harsh but try steel wool , not to much pressure though, you don't want to mess anything up.. used to use it all the time when i worked for a detailing company works great just make sure you dont rub the paint by accident

I work in a bodyshop whenever they is compound or another substance on plastic we always use a watered down all purpose cleaner. I had some white marks from wax in the same area on my car, I took care of it with the all purpose. Not a hint of white left.

or you can use pledge dust remover. i had some wax on my windsheild wiper covers and sprayed it with the pledge and buffed it out by hand and that was 5 days ago and still looks good.
