Post My first order of Zaino showed up, have a couple of ?'s before I do this!

1. Does the surface of the car need to be cool for the Zaino to work the best? I live in AZ and it is starting to warm up again (93 degrees today ), so I will be out in direct sun while doing this.

2. How exactly does a claybar work?

3. What is the prep procedure? I ordered Z1 the claybar, Z2, Z5, and Z6(the spray wax). Do I wash with dawn then clay and wash again with dawn? Or on the wash after claying do I was the Zaino wash?

1. I don't think applying Zaino in 90 degree heat should be a problem, but I could be wrong on that. I do know many people apply Zaino outside in the sunlight with no problems, and it does make the dry time consideribly less, but as far as surface temperature is concerned, I am certain one of the Kevins or MikeLS will know for sure.

2. The clay bar is designed to remove contaminants on the paint surface like rail dust. This is probably one of the most important steps in the Zaino process. The clay will make your paint feel smooth-to-the-touch. Using a clay bar is a must in ensuring that the Zaino will be appied on a well-cleaned surface.

3. First, wash with Dawn, then completely dry your car. You can then use the clay bar following Sal's instructions. Once you clay the car, immediately re-wash your car with Z-7 car wash. I do notice you didn't say that you had ordered Z-7, but again one of the authorized Zaino distributors can probably recommend a similar car washing soap you can use. I would recommend getting some Z-7 though. Then dry your car again and for good measure, you could wipe your car down with Z-6 to ensure you have gotten any water spots that you may have missed when drying. Now you are ready to start applying Zaino. Start with the Z-1, do the entire car, and immediately follow that up with either Z-2 or Z-5, which ever you prefer. Remember, the less you use, the better the results!

Be sure to read Sal's FAQs and application tips at www.zainobros.com. Lots of great info on there. And also be sure to use 100%, Made in the USA, white cotton towels!

Wildcat is right on!

1. Sure, you can apply Zaino in direct sunlight, no problems. You might need to work more quickly to get the product spread since the sun will rapidly accelerate drying. I've applied in direct sun, and the main thing is getting thin coats since the sun tends to make you apply it thicker. Sometimes I'll even apply in the shade, then back the car in the sun so it dries quickly. Either way, just try your best to use the thinnest possible coats.

2.

Work in small sections using plenty of lube. Never use clay over a dry surface.

3. Wildcat has it down right.

Just to reemphasize:
A. DAWN WASH
B. Claybar using lube or car wash soap
C. Wash using car wash, NOT Dawn
D. Apply Z6 to entire car, use sparingly!
E. Apply Z1, don't buff off. Apply Z1 VERY thin.
F. Apply Z2 or Z5 over Z1 and let them both dry. Use the finger swipe test to see if it's dry.
G. Buff off, congrats and enjoy the Zaino shine!!

To save time, you can actually blend steps B and C if you use a car wash soap as the clay lube. Clay and wash as you go is much easier and saves time.
