need opinions on polish
I need opinions on a good fine/mild abrasive. I've got some fine scratches and no swirls in my BLACK paint (read: PITA paint). I did a search and it seems like everyone uses the 3M39009 product. I also have some meguiars fine cut cleaner wax around somewhere. So, what would be good to use for my sensitive black paint? I don't care if it takes multiple applications either since I will be doing this by hand.
Any thoughts?

Hmmm, well if the 3M 39009 does not do the trick there are still several options. I alswys liked Meguiar's polishes, they seem to be less abrasive than 3M stuff. The new Meguiar's Swirl Mark Remover #9 2.0 might be a good choice for you since it's very mild at cleaning/polishing. I'd say less abrasive than 39009. I used to use the older version with good results. Other than that, you could also try some of the premium formulations like Pinnacle Paint Cleansing Lotion, P21S Cleaner, or Liquid Glass Pre-Cleaner. Those are very mild polishes that won't further abrade your surface. After multiple applications I think you would be happy with the results from any of these.
Regaredless of what you choose, it's always best to start with the mildest polishes first then try more abrasive formulations if you absolutely need to. I don't think I'd use the Meguiar's Fine Cut on my paint. Seems even more abrasive than 39009 which would cause more swirls than it takes out. I think that stuff is for major paint problems like heavy scratches/swirls.
Keep us posted on what you choose and how it turns out.

I work at a detail shop and use a 3M product called Foam Pad Polishing Glaze, I'm not sure of the #, it may be what your talking about, but anyhow it works great, I always come back with a finish polish also, we use Automagic's BC-2 to finish and then wax. Good luck what ever you try!
