I use Kit paste wax - that is also what the previous owner used as well.

Seems to work pretty well - I generally wax her every 4 months or so. I also wash w/ straight water, so the wax doesn't get stripped off as rapidly as with soap.

Thanks for the responses !!

ZAINO! Technically, Zaino is NOT a wax and shouldn't be confused with one. Zaino is in the polymer sealant family whereas "waxes" are usually in the carnauba family...BIG difference...

Before my Zainoing days, I was a huge fan of Meguiar's and have used nearly every wax and polish they made over the years. However, after seeing the "yellowing" effects from their carnauba on my car, I wouldn't go back to using Meg's even if Zaino no longer existed (GASP!)

As for other true "waxes", I have One Grand Blitz and P21S(S100) on hand now if I were looking for a show car quality carnauba shine again. If you want to stay with a wax, you really can't beat Blitz for the price.

Now, if the question was, "What's your favorite polymer sealant?" then my answer would look something like this: ZAINO!!! And, if Zaino weren't avialable, I'd use my Klasse Sealant Glaze or Liquid Glass instead...

35LEss,
Where are you in Texas as there are several Zaino distributors in that State that would be happy to help you out? Some will even meet with you to buy the product or you can order through PayPal...

You should never, EVER wash a clear coated surface with plain water, you must always use a car wash, it is best to find a durable product that will NOT get washed off just by hand washing.

Cool

klasse is the best stuff in my book. check it out at: www.properautocare.com

similar to zaino, but acrylic instead of polymer. also, see the thread below started by davey about klasse. that will answer any questions you may have about it.

good luck!

Interesting - what is the reason for not using just plain water ?

I know you are not supposed to use dishwashing soap to clean the car, so long ago I went to straight H˛O to help the finish last.

Thanks for the responses !!

Exclamation

Plain water washing offers no lubrication between your wash mitt and the paint surface. This usually results in severe swirls and scratches. Also, a quality car soap, like Zaino Z7, contains detergents and surfactants that safely remove dirt and grime buildup without scratching and swirling. At the very least, grab a bottle of Meguiar's or similar car soap at any Auto store or WalMart. Washing with water alone will likely scour your finish...

What is Liquid Glass? I've heard of it, but I have no idea what it is? Ie: Is it like Zaino, or regualar wax?

Hey Jeff,

I meant to do a review of LG a while back but got busy and forgot about it.

Anyway, here's the deal with LG. It is a synthetic polymer based on silicone, and it contains no carnauba or wax. It does contain very very mild polishing agents or cleaners, so I'm not exactly sure if it can layer like Zaino but I highly doubt it, since it does contain the cleaners. As far as results, LG does give a mirror like finish more similar to Klasse than Zaino. LG goes on easy and generally buffs off pretty easily, but does tend to powder upon removal. Durability is also nowhere near as good as Zaino or Klasse, lasts two or three months on a daily driver. So, I'll keep using it on "other" detailing jobs where time is short and I want quick, decent, and somewhat long-lasting results. I know some people who swear by LG for years, but IMHO it's a step below the quality of Zaino.

HTH!

There are actually quite a few polymer based sealants out there, they are nothing new really and have been around for quite a few years in various forms. There are thousands of different polymers in circulation, but most used in car care are based on silicone because it's cheap and shines easy. Zaino is totally against silicone or the use of oils, as it contains NONE. Zaino's polymers/resins are very unique and nothing will last longer that I've found.

Meguiar's #20:
Mirror GlazeŽ #20 Polymer Sealant is a unique blend of polymers, resins, silicones and imported waxes and provides exceptional durability.
As you can see, #20 conatins silicones and waxes, Zaino contains neither! #20 is nowhere near as durable as Zaino, and the shine is not as good. #20 is a decent product though for those wanting to start experimenting with polymers instead of traditional waxes. It's not Zaino quality though....

Other than Zaino, try Meg's System Crystal Polish followed by a coat of Meg's #26 or Gold Class wax. For maintenance use Meg's soft gel carwash & quick detailer. Used this for years with excellent results.

Make sure you use only 100% cotton, made in USA towels & wash mitt (same as Zaino recommends).
