protection from the sun and dirt
Hello...
I recently got my hands on a black 97 ss which I am very excited about. It will be my daily driver though and I wanted a couple suggestions from ya'll about preventative maintenance.
I read a few posts on people's opinions of the best wax to use, but I was wondering what the best thing would be to protect the black paint from the sun mainly and also make the dirt come off easier when I wash it. If it was a wax and made the car look better that would be great too.
I have covered parking when I have the car at home, but while at work it will be in the sun and I'd like to protect the paint as much as possible.
Also, any suggestion on how to make other parts of the car last longer that are constantly exposed to the weather like seals around the windows and stuff?
Thanks for helping...

Congrats on the SS, sounds like a beauty! If it's protection you're after (not to mention the show car shine), Zaino is what you'll want for a daily driver. The Zaino polish does actually contain a UV agent to protect from the sun too. And, washing a Zaino'd car is usually very easy and painless as the dirt just seems to float off with the Z7 wash. I have found that dirt and bugs just don't seem to stick to a Zaino'd surface, and this makes washing and cleanup much easier. Plus the Z7 wash adds a little extra sparkle to the finish as it's cleaning since it's got the same kinds of glossing agents that's in the polishes. You might want to read up at www.zainobros.com for product info, application tips/tricks, etc....
To make the "other parts" last longer, you need a dressing that contains a UV blocker as well and that doesn't contain harmful silicones or strong solvents. 303 Aerospace Protectant is a good choice and Zaino Tire Dressing is another great choice as they both have UV blockers. Also, both leave a matte/satin type finish, not ultra-glossy. Here's some shots of the Zaino tire dressing on my wheels: http://mls1.homestead.com/files/DCP_0001_6.jpg

If you have leather, use a quality leather dressing like Zaino Z10, Lexol, or Eagle One.
