can i just take some mothers to them ??

mothers, products that you use on your car, yes.

the aluminum polish, NO, it will STRIP the clear off (ask how i know..)

my guess is both TransAm 16'' & WS6 17'' were both clear coated?

 

Most all factory polished wheels are clear coated, factory chrome wheels are not clear coated.

To tell if your wheels are clear coated, take some metal polish and rub a small spot, if the cloth turns black that is the polish pulling off the oxidation and pulling the nickel out of the chrome. If the cloth does NOT turn black, they are clear coated.

Mothers has three different wheel polishes so we need to talk specific for anyone to know what the hell the other is saying:

Use this on clear coated wheels (or what the wax or polish you put on the paint in case you do not want to buy a separate product for your cleared wheels)

Mothers CLEAR COAT WHEEL POLISH

If you have NON clear coated wheels you can use either of these two:

Mothers MAG & ALUMINUM POLISH or

Mothers BILLET METAL POLISH
