Question water blade?

After reading some posts on LS1tech.com I started to get the impression that water blades are not good to use on Black paint. Is this true? Also I use the blade and then Microfiber towells for touching up, are these towels safe to use? I use them for touch up drying and buffing my car after waxing.

If you use a water blade make sure the car is very well rinsed, water blades can cause scratches if there is any dirt left on the surface, or something gets trapped under the blade

It Definatly should be called the California Scratch Blade. Not only does it scratch, it leaves streaks on the car as well.

Hmmm, I've never had any trouble with it scratching my car.

Then again, my car is white.

Mine is dark purple, and I have NEVER noticed scratching or anything. I would say its okay to use. Just make sure to leave it in its packaging to protect it.

Cool

I used the Cali Water Blade for quite a while on my last car, but just don't seem to need it any longer. It never caused me a bit of trouble and I'm very meticulous about my finish. Even the slightest hint of a scratch and it would have been in the trash or permanently on the shelf. But, it always worked well for me..... I always used it on a perfectly clean surface, made sure the blade was always clean, and stored it in its original package. Used properly it will work very well.....

I have not used it on my G35 though, mainly just the Absorber and microfiber.....

You basically run the same risk of scratching the car No matter how you dry it, unless of course you let it air dry because you like water spots. I personally wont use the water blade. Most paint shops dont like it either. Its jsut one of those battles just like front end covers. We could all sit here and argue untill we turn blue in the face and the fact will remain that we all will most likley still retain a certain opinion. You will here both pros and cons for it, Ohh well.

I've used it before and didn't really notice any scratches, but went ahead and decided to use the Absorber (or towel) just to be on the safe side. Besides, it sounds like a pig squealing when going over the body ; ) .

Hi everyone,

Is all microfiber the same? I saw some true 100% microfiber towels @ Wal-Mart in the baby section for like $8.96 and wondered if they were the same thing that you guys use with the zaino. Looks like the only difference is that there were some animal prints or something on it. If it is , I can get them locally and not have to order.

Thanks,
Jason U

Any 100% microfibre towel should work well and not harm, scratch or leave any swirl marks. Just don't wipe over any dirt with it though or else! I use the Toro Turbo Leaf Blower to dry my car. No risk at all blowing air at 215 mph. Goodbye towels and shammy.

I've used the California Blade many times as well on my TA. No problems here. It just SOUNDS bad, that and it doesn't slide to well- really grips the paint. That's fine though as long as it's clean.
