Windex safe for wheels?

Windex safe for wheels?
Is regular windex safe for high polished wheels? TT II's to be exact?
If not, what can I use that I can buy somewhere here? Just water?
I posted this in another thread but figured more people would reply to my question if I started my own.

LoL
Honestly, I thought you were kidding in the other post since you had used the little green tounge guy LoL. No, don't use Windex on wheels or paint, ever. It's a strong cleaner, with Ammonia , that's just not safe for use on painted or wheel surfaces. Strong cleaners like this will easily cloud or etch the surface. The absolute safest thing to do is use a separate cotton rag or mitt with some car soap and wash them like you would the rest of the car. Applying a wax or sealant will help keep the dirt and dust from sticking as strong. If you do happen to need something stronger for a one time use, try Simple Green or Meguiar's Gold Class wheel cleaner. But, don't make a habit of using these types of cleaners often.

Thanx. I shouldn't do that anymore then. What about a cleaner without ammonia?
What about NeverDull? You know, the cotton that is supposed to clean things hardcore?!

Well, most wheel cleaners are either a strong acid or alkaline formula, so yeah, they'll do the job, but again I don't like using them any more than necessary. You should treat wheels as gently as you do the paint on the car. Otherwise you're aksing for trouble later on.
The NeverDull uses solvents to clean, but they aren't anywhere near as corrosive as ammonia or an acid/alkaline solution. A quick polish with NevrDull, followed by a wipe down and waxing is pretty safe.

Don't use those "never rub" wheel cleaners that spray on as well. They are Hulk Hogan strong, and will kill the finish of your wheels over time.
I use the soap I wash my car with to wash my wheels. I use Zaino on the wheels as well.

Ha Ha Ha.....TheV6Bird since when did you take great care of your wheels......or did you just start two weeks ago I bet you don't even have all those wheel cleaners in your garage!
Although in a reply to the post, I would just use the soap, water and wax.

That's the only thing I miss about my old wheels, the fact that I never gave a crap about them because they were ugly and dirty to start with. Now, I notice whenever dust starts to build up all the time!
