Interior switched power

Im back. Trying to find an ignition switched source for a cutout. I already tried the ACCY port which blew the #9 fuse (10 amp) despite the cutout needing only 5 to 7.5amp (and when it blew the cutout still worked and had power?). Im now looking at the cigar/accy fuse #11 with a 25amp fuse. Per the Shoebox diagram I think the only thing drawing power from this is the cigarette lighter (but I dont really know how to read these things..) If so, the only thing I would ever put in the cig lighter would be a 2 amp cell phone charger, together with the cutout pulling at most 9.5 amps. Does this seem to be a fair solution? Thanks -

Re: Interior switched power

Were you using Shoebox's 1995 interior wiring diagram? 97 might be different. Free download of 1996 factory service manual. Closest available to 97, but it will definitely be closer than 95.

Shoebox has the 96 ignition switch (power distribution) diagram.

Fuse 9 in both 95 and 96 years appears to be tied to the “IGN” lug in the fuse block, not the “ACCY”. In any case, there are other loads on fuse #9, so adding as much as 9 amps for the cutout could have popped the fuse. Not sure how the cutout still could have worked an a blown fuse.

Appears I've already provided some of this info in your previous post. Might have continued in that thread.

Re: Interior switched power

I know, I dont get it, Ive looked at it a bunch of times and Im 100% sure I was plugged into the ACCY lug, not IGN, the #9 fuse was blown, and the cutout still worked. I have the 1997 service manual from the https://charm.li/ website, I can find the fuse panel and descriptions of the fuses and what they do but not the diagram like the one in the 96 manual to see whats behind them. Its not searchable so its very hard to find anything really so I cant confirm either that the 1997 #9 fuse covers the IGN lug and not the ACCY though I dont know why they would have done that. On a side note both the 96 and 97 manuals show the number 4, 25amp fuse covers the radio power antenna, bose relay and CD changer (Radio itself is powered by #15). Since I have none of those things I might try tapping into that. Thanks for your help -
