AutoXing events this summer? Paging Chuck...
I defientley can use some practice, jsut wanna know if anyone knows of any AutoX events. I think I heard there is a SCCA event maybe july 28th? in Palm Bay, I gotta dig through the websites. wonder if i can be considered a Novice since i never ran SCCA?
hey Chuck how did you fair today? I know I came in 3rd but I ma happy I really improved my times, and closed the gap alot more agianst those 2 damn Imprezas. But i still have room for imporvement, I made some mistakes every run. I also made a few mistakes probable not to good for the car, when i was in 1st(95% of the course), I didin't give it enough gas when easing the clutch out to "engine brake", and skidded the rear a couple times, now that cannot be too good for my POS transmission, and my 116k miled motor.
my runs were
1st 56.XXX 1 cone= 59.XXX
2nd 55.XXX 1 cone= 58.XXX
3rd 56.XXX <----best
Best in G-prepared was a 52.XXX, but the only one that diupped in the sub 53.xxx range.

Mr. Belvoir said that SCCA will be at BCC on the 27th and 28th this month. Yeah you should still be in a novice class in SCCA. I've never gone to one of their events. Once a month gets the wife complaining enough! I finished 2nd out of 4 in GT Prepared. Considering I should heave been in GT stock with the other Mustangs and Z28's that's not bad. All the others had suspension mods, exhaust mods, better tires... whine whine whine. Due to a funky rule that doesn't affect the Firehawks BTW, the SS is bumped up a class due to the 17" wheels. In order to run against other F Bods I had to step up to Prepared class with no mods. As it turned out the guy in the red topless Z28 ran a 2nd round of 53.253. My best was a 53.333. That's 8 hundredths of a second for those not mathematically enclined. A blink. My slowest was something like a 53.8XX. I hit no cones. The guy who won hit one cone in his first round and 5 in the 3rd. It was good to have such a close battle. Tons of fun. Glad you made it. I wish more would.

Guess that guy finally got control of the car, every other run of his he was sideways halfway through the course. Looked cool but didn't help his times.
that is a pretty crappy rule, I mean if my camaro was stock I would be G-stock, same as a 2000 Y97 equiped v6 Camaro. We would weight nearly the same but he would have LSD stock, and 40 more hp.
I had some plans for putting Kuhmos in the front, I really liked having my rear tires slightly overinflated. But alas, I owe the parents about $600 so its putting my plans back a bit.
hmm... Novice at SCCA, sounds good to me, I am actually starting to drive better hten a novice so maybe I can compete there , jsut as long as there are no pesky Imprezas around.
