One other thing I didn't like when I was there was how quickly they send cars down the track. JUST as I was turning on the return road, there were 2 cars just about to cross the traps. I think they should wait until BOTH cars are on the return road before they release the cars waiting to run.
I'm racing at Bradenton for the first time ever this Saturday, I'll let you all know how that track is.

How far after the 2nd turn does the pavement last and turn into 100 FT of grass?? I think they should atleast make that area after the 2nd turn of very soft sand, or gravel to help stop cars.
You can probably take the winnigns from just ONE Test and tune night and have this done with plenty of money left.

I was gonna say as well in my car I gotta get on the brakes harder then I woudl like, and I am only trapping mid to low 90s...
Also the pavement lasts like 30' past the 2nd turnoff....
I always wondered how those old school boats, with possibly original brake systems, and running sub-12 second runs made that... I woudl think that the scariest part of the track for them.

BMP vs. OSW
Well, I said I'd let you all know how BMP compares to OSW. BMP is the better track.
BMP
Pros:
- good prep
- the track slopes up after the traps, aiding in slowing down
- there are 3 turnoffs
- there are two return roads
- they wait until you're on the return road before sending cars down the track
- lots of nice cars there
- nice pit area close to the lanes
- track wasn't that crowded
- IHRA official inspecting every car
Cons:
- didn't like how the dude at the shack tore timeslips in half
OSW
Pros:
- close to Orlando
- lots of actual everyday cars there
- you get a full timeslip
Cons:
- less runout than BMP
- next set of cars racing as you're turning on the return road
- slippery
- no tech. inspection
- safety reputation

Seems like nothing is changed. 20 years ago I used to run low 9s @ just under 150 and back then the track was scary. The shutdown area is too short, that's why you'll never see the really fast stuff at Bithlo. A few pro class racers have actually come out to eyeball the track just to see if some quicker stuff could run there, the result is everybody shakes their head with a silent no and leaves. you would think that for a track that has been around for so long and operates regularly, there would have bee improvements. Heck even a no holds barred 1/8 mile would still be fun. If you can get 150 mph in the 1/8th, that still gives lots of shutdown room.

I guess I'm dreaming when I see 5 second 260+mph passes at OSW during the Florida Nationals and during the Night of Fire? If you're running 150 in the 1/4 you are required to have a chute. I guess Orlando is just a good way to learn how to pack it

I like to show up around 5:30 and get towards the front of the line and be one of the first ones in the gate. You sometimes get a run or two extra hotlapping in the begining while people are still teching in.
Where long pants... and you are supposed to where a helmet if faster then a 14.0, sometimes they stop you sometimes they don't but if they stop you, you cannot run and you do not get a refund, even if you did not make one run.

The IHRA official there didn't enforce the helmet rule either. 3/4 of my runs were <13.99 too. I do need to get one though.
