Do you have access to a press to get the pinion bearing on and off? I've been able to get them on and off carefully with a brass punch in the past. But, I know it's not the preferred method.

 

Pinion bearing is already on the new pinion.

 

I hate to say it...... but if you have to ask whether anyone else thinks you should do it, it's probably something you shouldn't do. Then again, you seem so intent on it so you may as well dig and in figure out the pitfalls as you go. Just don't say you weren't warned.

 

I dont know...I have this thing...I can't let an inatimate (sp?) object intimtate me. I think I am going to do it. thanks for all the input, and yes, I have been forwarned.

I post up a week or so before doing it in case anyone wants to watch me butcher it.
