The driver was a representative from the shop which installed the supercharger...it was not the owner.

I posted some pics of the burnout contest, me, on LS1.com... I'm too lazy to link to them right now.

To an extent I think that everyone is being a little too hard on the SLP Ultra Zs performance. EVERYONE who races at that level has there glitches and bad days, even winston cup team w/ a no limits budget and multiple engineers. By all means that car should go mid 9s or lower and I'm sure it will. Yes, they were wrong to try to make excuses, but it may have been the track spokesman talking smack. Hell, I had at least 50 people watching me awaiting low 12s or better and pulled off a 12.9. Rather than make excuses to everyone I was stressing about what went wrong...but it happens and next time or the time after I will run the times I want. They should have done the same thing w/ the SLP car.
2nd-ly, any company shelling out about $50K for an event like that and all the other CADs across the country, should have enough $$ and common sense to have 2 of those cars built and with them.

From all the bad responses to the show, I am glad I didn't try to get there on time. I showed up at 5pm, I had my Bachelor party the night before. It was 5:25 when I showed up to collect my goody bag and they told me tough luck. Its a shame because I had $2500 to spend from my party. SLP's loss.

hehe...

I have always hated SLP parts I did gain respect with the event... as for the Ultra Z having too much gear? you think they woudl have figured that out before they ran it here, I mean aren't all 1.4 miles a 1/4 mile long?

bUt I will give them excuses in the first run they spun like hell on the launch. But how I am I would rather have my car be slow then an error on my part.

If they wasted 50K on this event I would have rather seen them keep the cash and offer better prices online....

I do agree with the comment they should have had two out there and I can expect a bad day, but when you have a show car you can not afford bad days.... Plus the ultra z should have every slp product not a nx nitrous kit... Lets see what slp products can do for us... They would have been better off havine a stock z with all their suspension stuff to show us what a suspension setup would do....

Like i said I loved the loudmouth but I am going elsewhere because of this event now... SLP lost 350 form me and any future business so this event caused them 2K in my losses over the years and probably another 10K in word of mouth losses.....

SLP Day

As far as I am concerned it was a great day. All you guys complaining just don't show up next time. Seems like you don't know a gift when you see it.

SLP bought the track for a day and invited us to have fun racing and hanging out for FREE. They did not discriminate on whether or not you had SLP parts on your car. They did not force you to listen to a sales pitch. They had thier products on display so we could look at them if we wanted, but you did not HAVE to. It was a FREE DAY AT THE TRACK with NO IMPORTS. Who gives a crap if SLP's car didn't run like they wanted it too or thier prices were "only" discounted 15%. Thier car is a car just like everyone else's and cars sometimes have problems. But who cares?!?!? Don't look a gift horse in the mouth, you know?

Do I have SLP parts on my car now? No. Have I used them? Yes. Was I satisfied with the parts? Yes. Will I have SLP parts in the future? Maybe, if they ever make parts for a '97 big block camaro I'll think about it.

Do I appreciate SLP spending thier money so I could have an import free day at Orlando Speedworld with my friends for FREE? HELL YES!

People should stop whining and thank SLP for doing that.

Man some of you guys are hard to please. Brutal.
I remember the first Fastest Street Car Shootout. It was cool but nothing to brag about. It grew and is a first class race.
Give them a chance. They had no idea what the turn out would be. Plus it was free. When was the last time you got into OSW for free?
Send your opinions to them to try to make the event more of what you want. Be decent about it though.
Some of the car club guys should help them out with next years event. I'd like to see them come back. I bought a few parts and any discount is a good discount to me.

actually now that i thought about it, that 15% discount was fine and dandy, except orange county has what 6 or 7% tax? so suddenly its only a 8 or 9% discount...

but free runs on the track was fun, and no ricers trying to weave through the cars to cut in front of people.

gotta admit, before i went i didn't have any SLP products on my car... now i do

I won't go next year I just thought it was a waste and was disappointed with the event. I rather pay for something better.... And free track runs come on you had to have pants and a helmet.. A helmet would run you 150 if you bought one and rentals they were out fast and no on was returning them....

Well I have to make the argument... other then me... and the 2 other v6 that ran eliminator rounds about 85-90% of the v8 guys needed helmets for test and tune...

I ended up with an
-ugly hat
-2 cool shirts
-license plate holder
-nice slp sticker
-slp pin
-slp badge
-slp letter opener(what jackass thought of this?)
-2 professionally done 8X10s of my car staging and launching(alwasy wanted that)
-mets oem cool people
-Saw some beautiful cars
-talked B.S. and saw some 3.4Ls
-met abotu 3-4 guys that used to have 3.4Ls
-got some cool pics of my car and others(I love my pics next to anohter quaser blue 3.4L)
-9 passes in the car
-My first bracket racing experience
-The great feeling and excitement of bracket racing(usually my runs consist of I get great launch, good r/t, and get passed by a 13 second car as I roll to 15s, I have had maybe 4-5 races that felt as close as jsut 1 of the bracket races)
-My first experience with INSANE traction at OSW
-Only time I wasted for prep was putting mods back on and cleaning he car.(full wieght +extra, and didn't even know what PSI I was running in my tires)

What I paid...
-$30 for the 2 8x10s
-$8 on water
-$2 for Mountain Dew code red
-Lack of sleep for a night
-minor sunburn
-disapointment of not winning anything

Normal test and tune...
-$15 entrance
-$4 ice/drinks
-time of prepping for the track

And I get 4 runs, I dominate 2(17 seond imports) and I get smashed in 2(4th gen v8s raping me)

I still enjoy it, but when I go to the track 99% of the time I compete against my own times, but at SLp I had compitition because the playing field was leveled.

Ultra Z did not have NX solenoids.

It had an what appeared to be an SX fuel regulator of some sort on the front right side of the fuel rail. There was no spray on the car. 10's naturally aspirated is nothing to sneeze at.

I loved the event! Free hats, free shirts, free racing, free car show, etc. My only complaint would be the bathrooms. The system they used also prevented people from spending hours in the staging lanes like you would at a regular test and tune.

I had a great time!

It had braided fuel line and such and what appeared to be a selenoid up front, but I am almost positive it is NA. Someone is bound to have some engine pics of the Ultra Z to finally end this arguement. I also did not see a bolltle in it.
