17 year old Firehawk suspension
I know I need new shocks, but how do I know if the springs are dead? Also, I know they offered different suspention kits from the SLP factory with the Firehawk's, how do I know if that is what is on my car already?
I kind of figure I should just go ahead and swap them out together. I was looking at the SLP Bilstein kit #70002, my problem is that I don't think I can lower the car because the headers already make it tough over speed bumbs as it is. What are some good replacements or other options that are going to comlipment the car and not take away from what was on it originally or even improve it?

In addition does anyone know where I can get a front end rebuild kit (Moog or other good quality), the steering is really sloppy and I am sure it is due, bushings all around also.

Re: 17 year old Firehawk suspension
I was told by a SLP Sales Rep that the SLP #7002 kit is the same parts as my car was optioned with. I have a '97 SS with the "Bilstein Level II" suspension package. I believe they are advertised as a 1/2 or 3/4" drop but it is really nothing, you'll have plenty of ground clearance with Long Tubes.
I put the #7002 kit on my '97 SS late Summer 2010 to replace my tired 150k mile suspension. I'm running pacesetter LTs into a custom 3" ORY

Re: 17 year old Firehawk suspension
Thanks for the info! Do you think I can call SLP with my VIN# and get the options that are on the car from them? I have all the ogirinal paper work but it happens to be in storage and I don't want to unpack my whole unit just to find out what kind of shocks/spring my car was optioned with.

Re: 17 year old Firehawk suspension
Well I called SLP and I found out that my car was not optioned with the 2LE suspension package... so I am kind of hesitant to get the SLP 70002 kit if it will lower car. I know it would make the car handle much better but the speed bumps are going to kill me...
